Bascilisa Tomac-Abeyta
GALLUP Funeral mass for Bascilisa "Vangie" E. Tomac-Abeyta,
70, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 28 at St. Francis of Assisi
Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Lawrence J. O'Keefe will officiate. Burial
will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. before funeral mass.
Surivors include her daughters, Debby Tomac of Gallup, Joanne Tomac
of Las Vegas, Nev., Carolyn Tomac-Albarez of Plainview, Texas, Brenda
Tomac-Snyder of Farmington; sisters, Percy Eaton of Texas, Sally Marks
of Isabella, Calif., Theresa Miller, Viola Parra of Gallup, Annie Presfield
of Okla.; brothers, Bennie Olivar, Gene Olivar, Pete Olivar all of Gallup,
Rutilio Olivar of Ariz.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Tomac-Abetya was preceded in death by her father, Jose Olivar; mother,
Jacoba Olivar; sisters, Mary Ponce and Jessie Wright.
Pallbearers will be Carmela Albarez, Domonic Albarez, Vanessa Dawn,
Jason Snyder, Joshua Snyder and Ronnie Wright.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Elks Lodge following
burial services.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

JONES RANCH Funeral services for Mary H. Begay, 98, will be
at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 28 at Cope Memorial Chapel. Burial will be
on family land in Jones Ranch.
Begay died Feb. 24 in Zuni. She was born Aug. 15, 1907 in Jones Ranch
into the Black Streak Forest People Clan for the One Who Walks Around
People Clan.
Begay was a rug weaver and home maker. She is the mother and grandmother
of 11 v eterans.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas H. Begay of St. Michaels, John E.
Begay of Gallup, George Begay of Jones Ranch, Manuel E. Begay of Jones
Ranch, Jonnie Begay of Fort Defiance, Lorenzo Begay of Page; daughters,
Alice M. Begay of Gallup, Annie Begay of Jones Ranch and Mary L. Begay
of Window Rock; 34 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Begay was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie H. Begay; sisters,
Etta Houston and Alice Smith.
Pallbearers will be Roland Begay, Manuel E. Begay, Monty Tilden, Jarrett
Begay, Ronald Begay and Kyle Barton.
Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
