Weather Signs: Gallup Police Officer Emory Holly and Elaine Garcia
discuss the light that fell on her car in the Rehoboth McKinley County
Hospital parking lot Wednesday afternoon. High winds blew the light on
to Garcia's car and one other. Another light in the hospital's parking
lot was removed because of concern that it might blow over, too. No one
was injured in the accident. [Photo by John A. Bowersmith/Independent]

Wind River: High winds blow a river of sand and dust across Sundance
Road Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday's howling winds with gusts that reached
nearly 60 miles an hour blew down light and whipped empty garbage cans,
dust and sand throughout the area. [Photo by John A. Bowersmith/Independent]

Artist James Walker flips through journals that are the beginning of his
artistic process. Walker has combined photography, drawing and painting
to make pieces that have been showing at the Ingham Chapman Gallery in
UNM-Gallup's Gurley Hall. The show ends Friday with a closing reception
and lecture today at 6 p.m. in the gallery. [Photo by John A. Bowersmith/Independent]
