GALLUP — Police arrested five teenagers for burglary early Sunday.

According to Gallup Police Detective Sgt. Matt Wright, a passer-by saw a door open at Gallup Catholic School, which is located at 405-406 Park Ave., a little after midnight Sunday.

Police responding to the call found a vending machine had been broken into. They followed footprints in the snow leading away from the school into Trademark Square, where they found five teenagers carrying chips and candy matching the items missing from the vending machine, Wright said. Other items, such as a gold crucifix, were also recovered.

Michael J. Franco, 16, Dominic Aragon, 16, Benjamin Theodore Gonzales, 15, Ryan Arviso, 17, and Brandon Garcia, 14, all from Gallup, were each arrested and booked at Gallup McKinley Juvenile Detention Center for burglary and trespassing.
