Navajo panels hold meetings this week

WINDOW ROCK — Nearly all of the Navajo Nation Council’s standing committees are holding meetings this week, according to the list of scheduled meetings released by the legislative branch Monday.

The Intergovernmental Relations Committee held its regular meeting Monday and its gaming task force is on travel to Phoenix Friday and Saturday.

The Government Services Committee met Tuesday at the Council Chamber’s north conference room.

The Transportation and Community Development Committee is holding a special meeting on Thursday at the Council Chamber.

The Economic Development Committee held a special meeting Monday at the Fire Rock Casino and will be on travel to Monument Valley Wednesday and Thursday.

The Education Committee had a special meeting on Monday at the north conference room.

The Ethics and Rules Committee is holding a regular meeting Friday at its conference room in Window Rock.

The Health and Social Services Committee will hold be on travel to the San Juan hospital in Monticello, Utah, on Monday and Tuesday. On Tuesday, the HSSC will hold its regular meeting at the Navajo Health Systems in Montezuma Creek, Utah at 1 p.m. On Wednesday and Thursday, HSSC will be on travel to Santa Fe .

The Judiciary Committee’s regular meeting will be on Thursday at the north conference room.

The Human Services Committee held its regular meeting on Monday and will be on travel to Monument Valley Wednesday.

The Public Safety Committee also held its regular meeting Monday and will be on a planning retreat to Albuquerque Wednesday through Saturday.

The Resources Committee will hold a special meeting on Tuesday at the Navajo Nation Environmental Protection Agency conference room and another special meeting Wednesday and Thursday at Monument Valley.

Standing committee meetings are usually scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., unless otherwise indicated.

Other legislative branch programs will also be holding meetings including the Navajo Board of Election Supervisors on Thursday at 9 a.m.; the Navajo Utah Commission on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the education conference room; and the Navajo-Hopi Land Commission will be on travel to Tohajiilee on Wednesday. A subcommittee of the N-HL Commission also held a meeting on Monday.
