John Alcon
GRANTS Funeral services for John Edward Alcon, 34, will
be 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 17, at St. Teresa Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. A rosary will be recited
7:30 p.m., tonight, Jan. 16, at St. Teresa Catholic Church.
Alcon died Jan. 14, 2009. He was born Jan. 29, 1974, in Las Vegas,
N.M.
Survivors include his partner, Gabriel Castro; parents, Eliseo
and Darlene Alcon of Milan; brother, David Alcon of Milan; sister,
Annette Alcon of Grants.
Alcon was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Alcon; grandparents,
Claudio and Alicia Duran.
Annie Clyde
HUNTERS POINT Funeral services for Annie Mae Clyde,
90, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 17, at St. Michaels
Parish. The Rev. Gilbert Schneider will officiate. Burial will
be in Fort Defiance Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m., Jan.
17, at St. Michaels Parish.
Clyde died Jan. 11, 2009, in Winslow. She was born June 10, 1918,
in Hunters Point, into the Edge Water People Clan for the
Salt People Clan.
Clyde was a homemaker and enjoyed rug weaving.
Survivors include her sons, Daniel Clyde of Connecticut, Dean
Clyde of Hunters Point; daughter, Grace Thompson of Leupp;
eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Clyde was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Clyde; sisters,
Kinbad Chee, Annie Tsosie, Mary Clyde, Glenhasbah Bershon.
Pallbearers will be Dean Clyde, Lionel Thompson, Kyle Thompson,
Marlando Quintana, Vincent Clyde, Phillip Clyde, Nathaniel Thompson.
The family will receive relatives and friends at 1 p.m., Jan.
17, at the Parish Center.

Joyce Connolly
GRANTS Services are pending for Joyce Alice Connolly,
76.
Connolly died Jan. 14, 2009, in Grants. She was born Feb. 24,
1932, in Liberal, Kan.

Hoskie Jake Jr.
CHINLE Services for Hoskie Jake Jr., 44, will be 10 a.m.,
Saturday, Jan. 17, at Catholic Church, Chinle. The Rev. Blaine
will officiate. Burial will be in New Chinle Community Cemetery.
Viewing will be 9-10 a.m.
Jake died Jan. 12, 2009, in Phoenix. He was born Dec. 21, 1964,
in Ganado, into the Towering House People Clan for the Water Edge
People Clan.
Jake attended Chinle High School and graduated in 1983, Ganado
College, Gallup UNM, and Phoenix Tech. He did construction and
carpentry. His hobbies included running and basketball.
Survivors include his daughters, Shawna Jake, Shannon Jake; brothers,
Wilfred Attson, Phillip Jake, Murphy Jake, all of Chinle, Elvis
Jake of Mesa, Lee Mescal Jr. of Ganado; sisters, Ethyline Begay,
LeAnne Mescal, both of Chinle, Loretta Mescal of Mesa.
Jake was preceded in death by his mother, Maggie Attson Mescal;
father, Hoskie T. Jake Sr.; brothers, Freddie and Arcenio Jake;
step-father, Lee Mescal Sr.; grandmother, Nellie W. Attson.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Jake, Murphy Jake, Elvis Jake, Lee
Mescal Jr., Fernando Begaye, Ferlando Begaye.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Ethyline Begays
residence, 1/2 mile S. of Chinle Catholic Church.

Esther Meguelito
BECENTI HOUSING Funeral services for Esther B. Meguelito,
90, will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 17, at Christian Reformed
Church, Crownpoint. The Rev. Gordon Stuit will officiate. Burial
will be in Crownpoint Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-4:30 p.m.,
today, Jan. 16, at Rollie Mortuary.
Meguelito died Jan. 13, 2009, in Fort Defiance. She was born
Sept. 4, 1918, in rural Borrego Pass, into the Bitter Water People
Clan for the Sleeping Rock People Clan.
Meguelito attended Fort Wingate High School.
She was employed with the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a head
cook at Huerfano Dormitory where she retired in July, 1982. She
was a member of the Crownpoint Christian Reformed Church. Her
hobbies included crocheting, sewing, reading and making quilts.
Survivors include her son, Stanley Manuelito Jr. of Fort Defiance;
daughters, Betty B. Bennett of Becenti, Naberta Swartz Begay,
Jann Toledo, both of Crownpoint; brother, Harry Burnside Sr. of
Crownpoint; sister, Grace Eskeets of Church Rock; 18 grandchildren;
24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
Meguelito was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Manuelito
Sr.; son, Ervin Becenti; parents, Bah Shorty, Chief Becenti; brothers,
Herbert Cowboy, Howard Cowboy, Tom Cowboy, Tom Shorty; sisters,
Helen Shorty, Dorothy Benally, Elsie Cambridge; one grandson.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Manuelito III, Sean Manuelito, Ty
Troy Tenequer, Ervin Begay, Jerrison Bennett, Geann E. Toledo.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Crownpoint Chapter
House, following services.

Henry Montano
GRANTS Memorial services for Henry Montano, 61, were 11
a.m., today, Jan. 16, at Compassion Mortuary. Burial was in Grants
Memorial Park. The Rev. Clemente Saavedera officiated.
Montano died Jan. 11, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born Dec.
12, 1947, in Grants.
Survivors include his sisters, Onofre Molina of Veguita, Trinnie
Marquez of Milan, Margaret Saavedra of Grants; brothers, Charlie
Montano of Belen, Seferino Montano of California, Clarence Montano
of Milan, Frank Montano of Grants.
Montano was preceded in death by his parents, Eufemio Montano,
Vilia A. Montano; brothers, Manuel Montano, Flavio Montano.
