RURAL VANDERWAGEN — Services are pending for Davidson Benally, 52.

Benally died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, in Winslow. He was born May 25, 1956, in Vanderwagen, into the Under his Cover People Clan for the Salt Water People Clan.

Paul Box

GALLUP — Graveside services for Paul E. Box, 69, will be 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Gallup City Cemetery.

Box died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, in Gallup. He was born April 24, 1939, in Neches, Texas.

Annie Deal

NASCHITTI — Services are pending for Annie Deal, 83.

Deal died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, in Gallup. She was born Oct. 15, 1925, in Naschitti, into the Salt Water People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

A family gathering will be 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Naschitti Chapter.

Deluvina Estrada

GALLUP — Services for Deluvina M. Estrada, 84, will be 2 p.m., today, Jan. 27, at Fellowship Tabernacle, 800 Ford Canyon Dr. Grace Lueras will officiate. A rosary will be recited at 2 p.m., today, Jan. 27, at the Fellowship Tabernacle.

Estrada died Jan. 22, 2009, in Gallup. She was born Dec. 23, 1924, in San Mateo.

Estrada took great pride in caring and providing for her family. She enjoyed crafts of all types, crocheting, sewing, needle point, and more.

Survivors include her son, Larry Estrada of Gallup; daughters, Bertha Leyba, Candy Schrmsher, Louisa Estrada, all of Gallup, Diana Azua of Denver, Colo.; brother, Henry Montano of Gallup; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren.

Estrada was preceded in death by her husband, Modesto Estrada; sons, Manuel Montano, Paul Estrada, Modesto Estrada Jr.; two grandsons.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Gallup Community Service Center, Hasler Valley Rd., following services.

Flowers may be sent to 113 Cindy Lane, Gallup.

Evelyn Garcia

LAGUNA — Funeral services for Evelyn Jean Garcia, 75, will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28, at St. Margaret Mary Church, Paraje Villiage. A rosary will be recited 7:30 p.m., tonight, Jan. 27, at the family home, Paraje Village.

Garcia died Jan. 26, 2009. She was born March 3, 1933.

Survivors include her husband, Lesardo Garcia; daughters, Mary Scott, Elizabeth Martinez, Bernadette Pahe, Janice Martin; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Garcia was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Hono.

Pallbearers will be Bryant Scott Jr., Randy Scott, Derek Scott, Ethan Martinez, Theo Martinez, Jordan Pahe, Clemente Ortiz.

Daisy Ortiz

GRANTS — Funeral Mass for Daisy C. Ortiz, 92, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. The Very Rev. Alberto Avella will be the celebrant. Visitation will be 1-6 p.m., today, Jan. 27, at Compassion Mortuary.

A rosary will be recited 7 p.m., tonight, Jan. 27, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Ortiz died Jan. 24, 2009, in Grants. She was born March 16, 1916, in Cubero.

Survivors include her children, Viola Rodriguez of Grants, Juanita Neyman of Albuquerque, Dennis Ortiz of Los Lunas, Raymond Ortiz of San Rafael, Becky Jaramillo of Albuquerque, Reina Lucero of Albuquerque, Gilbert Ortiz of San Rafael, Rosendo Ortiz of San Manuel; sisters, Mellie Rael of Grants, Kate Saavedera of Grants, Dora Marez of Grants; brothers, Prescilliano Chavez of Flagstaff, Fred Chavez of Albuquerque; 26 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Ortiz was preceded in death by her husband, Teodoso Ortiz; parents, Isidro Chavez, Isabel Montano Chavez; son, Jerry Ortiz; brothers, Fernandez Chavez, Leopoldo Chavez; two grandsons.

Pallbearers will be Clifford Neyman, James Ortiz, Max Rodriguez, Joey Jaramillo, Michael Lucero, Ceasar Ortiz.

Michael Pyles

ALBUQUERQUE — Memorial services for Michael L. Pyles, 63, will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, at Harwood United Methodist Church, 420 San Lorenzo, NW, Albuquerque.

Pyles died Jan. 21, 2009. He was born Oct. 21, 1945, in Kansas City, Kan.

Pyles graduated from Sandia High School in 1962. He worked in the finance industry for most of his career, and lived in Lafayette, Shreveport, Los Angeles, San Antonio, Texas, El Paso, Texas, and Clovis. Up until recently, he was a resident of Gallup for many years and had owned a loan company. After the death of his father, Pyles moved back to Albuquerque.

Survivors include his mother, Ruth; brother, Dennis of Albuquerque.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harwood United Methodist Church, 420 San Lorenzo, NW, Albuquerque, N.M., 87107.

Wavie Shain

BLUE WATER — Services are pending for Wavie Lee Shain, 85.

Shain died Jan. 24, 2009, in Blue Water. He was born June 25, 1923, in Kentucky.
