Calvin Arnold
RED MESA Services are pending for Calvin Joseph Arnold,
73.
Arnold died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, in Chinle. He was born Sept.
19, 1935, in Albuquerque, into the Red House People Clan for the
Mexican People Clan.
A rosary will be recited 7 p.m., Feb. 4, at Rollie Mortuary.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Gary Garcia
GRANTS Funeral Mass for Gary Ronald Garcia, 50, will be
10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 4, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.
The Very Rev. Alberto Avella will be the celebrant. Burial will
be at a later date in Grants Memorial Park. A rosary will be 7
p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 3, at St.Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.
Garcia died Feb. 1, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born Oct. 6,
1958, in Seboyeta.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Baca Garcia of Grants; children,
Christin Garcia of Albuquerque, Matthew Garcia of Albuquerque;
step-children, Daniel Urioste of Grants, Eric Urioste of Farmington,
Nicholas Urioste of Albuquerque; mother, Feliz Martinez Garcia
of Grants; brothers, Enriques Garcia of Seboyeta, Frankie Garcia
of Seboyeta, Larry Garcia of Seboyeta, Paul Garcia of Albuquerque;
sisters, Rebecca Mayo of Memphis, Tenn., Evelyn Garcia of Albuquerque,
Patricia Gonzales of Santa Fe; two grandchildren.
Garcia was preceded in death by his father, Julian Garcia.
Pallbearers will be Larry Garcia, Dominic Garcia, Derick Garcia,
Partick Baca, Nathan Garcia, Samuel Garcia, Stacey Garcia.

Leo Nelson
GRANTS Services are pending for Leo Nelson, 52.
Nelson died Feb. 1, 2009, in Grants. He was born Sept. 14, 1956,
in Crownpoint, into the Mescalero Apache People Clan for the Red
Running Into the Water People Clan.
A family meeting will be 5 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Baca Chapter
House and 5 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5, at Smith Lake Chapter House.

Michael Provenza
MONTROSE Celebration of life for Michael Provenza, 56,
will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the Crippin Funeral Home
Chapel. Bill Sigafus will officiate. Burial will be Feb. 6, at
St. Anthonys Cemetery, Aguilar, Colo. A viewing will be
10 a.m., Feb. 4, at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation
will be 5-8 p.m., Feb. 5, at Comi Funeral Home., 1804 E. Mian,
Trinidad, Colo.
Provenza died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, near Lake City, Colo. He
was born Jan. 11, 1953, in Aguilar, Colo.
Provenza grew up and attended school in Aguilar, graduated from
Aguilar High School, New Mexico Tech, Socorro, where he received
his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mining Engineering. He married
Beverly in Kemmerer, Wyo. May 24, 1980. He was a General Coal
Mining Manager, managing mines in Raton from 1994-2000 and Gallup
from 2000-2008.
Provenza lived in Kemmerer, Wyo., Madisonville, Ken., Gallup,
and Raton before settling in Montrose until the time of this death.
He was a member of the Rocky Mountain Coal Association, the New
Mexico Mining Association, acting as a board member.
Provenza enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting, as well as playing
cards and games with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Provenza of Montrose; sons,
Anthony Provenza of Salt Lake City, Utah, John Provenza of Montrose,
Jeff Provenza of Las Cruces; sister, Geraldine King of Georgetown,Calif.
Provenza was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Grace
Provenza.
Jasper Smith
ALBUQUERQUE Services are pending for Jasper Tony Smith.
Smith died Jan. 28, 2009, in Galveston, Texas. He was born May
3, 1962, in Gallup.
The family will meet 5 p.m., Feb. 3, at Twin Lakes Chapter House.
