Deaths
Roger Begay
CHAMBERS, Ariz. Funeral services for Roger Begay, 84,
will be 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 9, at Klagetoh Mennonite Mission.
James Lee will officiate. Burial will be in Wide Ruins Community
Cemetery.
Begay died Jan. 31, 2009, in Chambers. He was born March 6, 1924,
in Chambers, into the Red House People Clan for the One Walks
Around People Clan.
Begay worked for the railroad. He was self-employed, helping
people. He enjoyed being with relatives and friends.
Survivors include his sons, Wallace Begay of Durango, Colo.;
Dennis Begay of Chamber; daughters, Bertha Starr of Albuquerque,
Dee Castiono of Silver City, Bertha Begay of Burntwater, Geneva
Begay of Mescalero, Alberta Baldwin of Sanders; 38 grandchildren;
54 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Begay was preceded in death by his parents, Maggie Yellowhair,
Billy Yellowhair; four brothers; four sisters; sons, Kenneth Begay,
Robert Begay, Walter Begay.
Pallbearers will be Matthias Baldwin, Malachi Baldwin, Emmanuel
Nosie, Jason Richard, Robertson Jake, Francis Joe Cardy.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Wide Ruins Chapter
House, following services.
Kenneth Cody Jr.
ALBUQUERQUE Funeral services for Kenneth Cody Jr., 60,
will be 10 a.m., Feb. 9, at Rehoboth Christian Reform Church.
Burial will be in Rehoboth Cemetery, Rehoboth.
Cody died Feb. 4, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born Sept. 29,
1948, in Albuquerque.
Survivors include his son, Robert Cody; daughters, Malinda Cody-Harry,
Nichole Cody, Dawnette Manuelito, Seandae Cody; father, Kenneth
H. Cody Sr.; brother, Keith Cody; sisters, Dorthea Lincoln, Mary
Cody, Lori Nelson, Lisa Yazzie; 13 grandchildren.
Cody was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Cody; sister,
Helena Cody.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Miriam Fidel
GRANTS Services are pending for Miriam Maria Mary
Fidel, 83.
Fidel died Feb. 5, 2009, in Gallup. She was born March 7, 1925,
in San Fidel.

Fred Hubbell
PREWITT Private services for Fred H. Hubbell, 91, will
be at the family home at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
Burial will be at the family home.
Hubbell died Feb. 4, 2009, in Grants. He was born June 24, 1917,
in Beggs, Okla.
Hubbell settled in McKinley county in 1950. He lived a long wonderful
life as a water well driller, and continued to drill wells up
until 1992. He also enjoyed being a member of the VFW. Herb served
our country in the US Army during WWII.
He loved to visit with his family and friends and enjoyed playing
horseshoes. He even won the grand champion award in a horseshoe
competition at the age of 80. Hubbell was a great hard working
man.
Survivors include his wife, Maxie Lamm Hubbell of Prewitt; daughter,
Nelda Hubbell Carver of Saint George, Utah; step-children, Clifton
Day of Texas, Darlynn Jennings of Texas; four grandchildren; 10
great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.
Hubbell was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Viola
Mae Brown; brothers, Ben and Paul Hubbell.

John McKenzie
SHEEP SPRINGS Services are pending for John J. McKenzie,
91.
McKenzie died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, in Gallup. He was born May
15, 1917, in Sheep Springs.

Francis Simpson
GRANTS Private services for Francis K. Simpson, 66, were
Friday, Feb. 6, at Compassion Mortuary. Private burial will be
at a later date.
Simpson died Feb. 3, 2009, in Grants. He was born May 18, 1942,
in Minneapolis, Minn.
Survivors include his son, Sean Sharder of Fort Hood, Texas.
Simpson was preceded in death by his parents, Hardin Cleveland
Simpson, Adra Jeannette Louisnet Simpson.

Lucy Thompson
THOREAU Services for Lucy Thompson, 72, will be 10 a.m.,
Monday, Feb. 9, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. Burial will be
in Thoreau.
Thompson died Feb. 4, 2009, in Thoreau. She was born July 10,
1936, in Gallup, into the Salt People Clan for the Bitter Water
People Clan.
Thompson finished grammer school and worked with NN Headstart
as a cook, Blaze construction, Mobile Oil Company, B.J. Country
Store, Multiple work experience with various different companies,
hommaker, quilt making, vice president of Thoreau Senior Council
and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include his sons, Jerry Thompson, Delbert Thompson,
Delray Thompson of Nahodishgish; daughters, Vicky Lee, Sylvia
Morgan, Connie Largo of Nahodishgish, Elisa Lee of Baca; sisters,
Pauline Morgan of Crownpoint, Alice McFadden of Nahodishgish,
Mary Manygoats of Shiprock; 20 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be family members.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Nahodishgish
Chapter, following services.
