Panels leave rez for meetings

WINDOW ROCK — Three of the Navajo Nation Council’s standing committees are on off-reservation travel this week, according to the list of committee meetings released by the legislative branch.

The Budget and Finance Committee is in Las Vegas for a winter finance conference Sunday through Thursday.

The Transportation and Community Development Committee is in Washington for the Indian Reservations program and the reauthorization of SAFETEA-LU transportation bill Monday through Friday, and the Resources Committee will be in San Antonio Thursday through Sunday for wind project development.

The Government Services Committee has a regular meeting Tuesday in the Council Chamber’s north conference room.

The Health and Social Services Committee is holding its regular meeting Tuesday at the residential treatment center in Shiprock.

The Education Committee has a special meeting on Friday in the Council Chamber’s north conference room.
The Human Services Committee has a special meeting Thursday at Teesto chapter and is awaiting approval for a second special meeting on Friday at 9 a.m.
