Dilkon health center travel cost, activities funds sought Copyright © 2009 WINDOW ROCK A steering committee planning office for a health care center in Dilkon wrote four proposals to potential donors during the first quarter of fiscal year 2009 seeking money to help with the cost of its travel expenses. The Dilkon steering committee also held events to raise funds for its activities, according to the Navajo Nations Division of Health quarterly report. Three planners with the DOHs Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation provide administrative support to the local steering committees, which plan for and seek funds for health care construction projects. The Dilkon steering committee has also been looking into gaining access to the Leupp C-Acquifier for the community. The steering committee supports other chapters also having access to a water line, according to the DOH quarterly report. The Kayenta Health Center Project Leadership Team has worked out an agreement between the township and the Navajo County court to make the right of way wider for utilities and a road. A contract for a construction manager was also awarded during the first quarter by the Kayenta team, the DOH quarterly report states. The Kayenta team further worked on the turn lanes to the airport on U.S. Highway 160 and submitted a power application to the Navajo Area Indian Health Service. The Red Mesa Steering Committee planning office reported that in the first quarter, a revocable license and memorandum of understanding between IHS and the Navajo Nation were approved. The memorandum will allow for tribal programs such as the Department of Behavioral Health Service, the community health representative and Women, Infants and Children Program to be accommodated in the facility. An planner is assigned to work with the Red Mesa Steering Committee and will continue to work arts and hogan projects at the Four Corners Regional Health Center. The planner is also helping the Pueblo Pintado and Gallup Indian Medical Center Steering Committees. |
