COYOTE CANYON Services are pending for Selena Clark, 87.
Clark died Sunday, March 8, 2009, in Gallup. She was born April
12, 1921, in Twin Lakes, into the Bitter Water People Clan for
the Salt People Clan.
A family gathering will be 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, at Coyote
Canyon Chapter.

Johnson Cody
FORT WINGATE Services are pending for Johnson Cody, 51.
Cody died Monday, March 9, 2009, in Fort Wingate. He was born
Aug. 23, 1957, in Fort Defiance, into the Meadow People Clan for
the Salt People Clan.
A family gathering will be 5 p.m., tonight, March 10, at Rocksprings
Chapter House.

GALLUP Services are pending for Ramon Guerrero, 83.
Guerrero died Monday, March 9, 2009, in Gallup. He was born Aug.
31, 1925, in Encarnacion deDias, Mexico.

Grace James-Sam
CHAMBERS Funeral services for Grace Nez James-Sam, 97,
will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints Stake Center, 100 W. 800 N., Blanding, Utah. Visitation
will be 10:30 a.m., prior to services. Interment will be at Blanding
Cemetery.
Sam died March 5, 2009. She was born Jan. 1, 1912, in Chambers,
into the Waters Edge People Clan for the Towering House
People Clan.
Sam loved when her family gathered for Christmas, Thanksgiving,
powwows and tribal fairs. She cherished her visits with her brother,
when they took her to Blue Water or Laughlin casinos to play slot
machines. The English language she acquired was through working
in Gallup, as a motel maid, dishwasher and working at Eliate Laundry
and Cleaners. Sam wove Navajo rugs, sewed clothing and made quality
jewelry, silverwork and beadwork and loved to dance in the song
and dances. She loved to sing with her song and dance cassette,
especially her favorite singers, Sweethearts of Navajoland.
Her finest achievements was raising seven children and five grandchildren
as a single mother.
Sam was preceded in death by her son, Abel; daughter, Louise
Ann; parents; husband; sister, Irene Smith; brothers, John Martin,
Nathaniel Nez, Ray Martin.
Survivors include her sister, Alice Burnside of Chambers.
A family reception will be at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Stake Center, Blanding, following services.
Dolly Martin
KIRTLAND Funeral Mass for Dolly Martin, 80, will be 11
a.m., Wednesday, March 11, at San Juan Catholic Center, Kirtland.
Burial will be in Memory Gardens, Farmington. Viewing will be
2-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Kirtland.
A rosary will be recited 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, at Cope
Memorial Chapel.
Martin was born in Conshohocken, Pa.
Martin lived in Gallup and moved to Kirtland in 1971, after purchasing
Justa Laundry. During her 31 years in business, she supported
numerous community groups, local teams and charities. Most will
remember her when passing the laundry as an energetic, compassionate,
loving friend and companion.
Survivors include her sister, Terri Spina of Ariz.; brothers,
Anthony Andy Ricci of Pa., Phil Ricci of Farmington;
son, Patrick Martin of Kirtland; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Martin;
parents, Margareat (Tanara), John Ricci; brothers, Al, Johnny,
Rocco, Midge, Jerry; sisters, Carol, Rose, Mary.
Pallbearers will be Joey Spina, Bill Bustamante, Calvin Yazzie,
Lambert Yazzie, Willard Billey, Doug Walker.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
John Rodriguez
FORT DEFIANCE Funeral services for John R. Rodriguez,
60, will be 1 p.m., today, March 10, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints Church, St. Michaels. Bishop Willy will officiate. Burial
will be in Fort Defiance.
Rodriguez died March 3, 2009, in Gallup. He was born June 30,
1948, in San Diego, Calif.
Rodriguez worked at the Gallup Flea Market selling bikes and
tools for the past 14 years. He enjoyed being around animals.
Survivors include his brother, Paul Rodriguez; sisters, Rosie
Rodriguez of Chico, Calif., Barbara Espinza of Mexicali, Mexico.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Showie, Leo Showie Jr., Alton Showie,
Joe Tate, Norman Catron, Erickson Begay.
Lena Sanchez
GRANTS Funeral Mass for Lena Sanchez, 81, will be 10 a.m.,
Wednesday, March 11, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. The
Very Rev. Alberto Avella will officiate. Burial will be in Grants
Memorial Park. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m., tonight, March
10, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.
Sanchez died March 9, 2009, in Grants. She was born Dec. 7, 1927,
in Cubero.
Survivors include her children; Joe Sanchez of Milan, Emily Porter
of Grants, Kathy Garcia of Grants; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
Sanchez was preceded in death by her husband, Procopio Sanchez;
parents, Albino Saavedra, Esperiona Saaverdra; sons, Jackie L.
Sanchez, Robert Sanchez; brothers, Santos Saavedra,, Gilbert Saavedra,
Timo Saavedra.
