Helen Kirk
KINLICHEE, Ariz. Funeral services for
Helen Davis Kirk, 71, will be 10 a.m. June 6, at the Mary, Mother
of Mankind Church, St. Michaels. The Rev. Josephine Goebel, CSA,
will officiate. Burial will be in the community cemetery, Kinlichee.
Kirk died June 3, 2008, in Winslow. She was
born June 10, 1936, in Kinlichee, into the Bitter Water People
Clan for the Coyote Pass People Clan.
In her early years, Helen was a livestock producer,
specifically sheep and goats. Kirk was a renowed rug weaver and
employed at Hubbells Trading Post for over 20 years. She
received numerous awards for her rug weaving and enjoyed helping
family and relatives and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Kirk;
sons, Benjamin Davis of Ganado, Mark Davis of Querino Canyon,
Ariz., Robert Kirk of Rock Point; daughters, Darlene Kirk of St.
Michaels, Pearline Kirk of Mesa, Charlene James of Kinlichee;
brothers, Hoskie Davis of KInlichee, Wilson Davis of Navajo Station,
Ariz., Anthony Davis Sr. of Flagstaff; 17 grandchildren.
Kirk was preceded in death by her parents, Willis
and Yeildazbah Davis; brothers, Thomas Davis, Guy Davis Sr., Nelson
Davis; one grandchild.
The family will receive relatives and friends
at Kinlichee Chapter House, following services.

Edward McCabe Jr.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska Edward McCabe Jr.,
87, will be cremated and his ashes scattered over the Kenai River
in Alaska at a later date.
McCabe died Tuesday, May 27, 2008. He was born
Dec. 4, 1920, in Ganado, into the Salt People Clan for the Jemez
People Clan.
McCabe was the oldest of 9 boys and 3 girls.
He received an MBA degree from Harvard University and served in
WWII in the Army. He retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs,
Department of the Interior as Superintendent of the Shiprock Agency
and was also involved with Navajo Tribal Government.
Survivors include his wife, Bella Rogers McCabe
of Anchorage; daughter, Marlene of Anchorage; son, Edward McCabe
III, of Las Vegas, N.V.; siblings, James L. McCabe of Phoenix;
Margaret McCabe Wilcox of Ganado.
McCabe was preceded in death by his parents,
Edward McCabe, Sr., and Helen McCabe.
Bennie Olivar
GALLUP Funeral Mass for Bennie Olivar,
85, will be 10:30 a.m. June 6, at the St. Francis Church, Gallup.The
Rev. Don Richardson will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial
Park, Gallup. A rosary will be recited 10 a.m. June 6, at the
St. Francis Church.
Olivar died June 2, 2008, in Gallup. He was
born Feb. 13, 1923, in Jalostotitlian, Jalisco Mexico.
Olivar was a World War II Veteran, received
Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart. He served
with the 32nd Infantry Division. Olivar was employed with Fort
Wingate Army Depot. He was a VA volunteer driver more than 11
years and put in an estimated 100,000 miles. He enjoyed working
in his garden and being with family.
Survivors include his son, Michael D. Olivar;
daughters, Barbara Olivar, Liz Cisneros; brothers, Pete Olivar,
Rutillo Olivar, Eugene Olivar; sisters, Pricilla Eaton, Annie
Presfield, Sally Marks, Viola Parra; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Olivar was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah
S. Olivar; parents, Jose and Jacoba Olivar; sisters, Mary Ponce,
Jessie Kent, Vangie Tomac; Theresa Miller; daughter, Lucille Mathews;
son, Bennie Olivar Jr.
Pallbearers will be Sarah Cisneros, Anthony
Moreno, David Olivar, Ronnie Wright, Candice Diaz, Daveri Huber.
The family will receive relatives and friends
at 620 N. 2nd, following services.

Colleen Silvers
JONES RANCH Services are pending for
Colleen Rose Silvers, 55.
Silvers died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, in Gallup.
She was born March 5, 1953, in Zuni, into the Folded Arms People
Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan.
A family meeting for friends and relatives will
be 6 p.m. tonight, June 5, at the Chichiltah Chapter House.

Joe Wilson
THOREAU Services are pending for Joe
Wilson, 73.
Wilson died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, in Thoreau.
He was born Oct. 10, 1934, in Thoreau.

Murphy Yazzie
PHOENIX Funeral services for Murphy B.
Yazzie, 21, will be 10 a.m. June 7, at the Our Lady of Fatima,
Chinle. The Rev. Blane Grein, OFM, will officiate. Burial will
be in Chinle Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m., one
hour prior to services.
Yazzie died June 1, 2008, in Phoenix. He was
born June 1, 1987, in Chinle, into the Bitter Water People Clan
for the Tangle People Clan.
Yazzie went to Rock Point High School and worked
in Phoenix for Scott Roofing Company as a roofer. He enjoyed playing
baseball and football and also watching the games. He loved drawing,
working on vehicles around the house, and cooking. Yazzie liked
to help family, chop and haul wood for the whole family.
Survivors include his parents, Marie Yazzie
of Phoenix, step-father, Ronald Davis Sr. of Chinle; brothers,
Murray B. Yazzie Jr. of Phoenix, Ronald Davis Jr., Tony Davis,
both of Chinle, Alvin L. Ayze of Many Farms, Gabe Whitesinger,
Gerald Whitesinger, both of Chinle; sisters, Maria Yazzie of Phoenix,
Marina Yazzie of Whipperwell, Cindy Davis, Melanie Davis, Valentina
K. Davis, all of Chinle; grandparents, Ella Mae Yazzie, Ray Yazzie,
Steven Yazzie, Hank Yazzie, Peter Yazzie, Oscar Yazzie, all of
Pinon, Linda Wilson, Loucinda Buckinghorse, both of Pinon.
Yazzie was preceded in death by his father,
Murray B. Yazzie; grandparents, Leonard L. Ayze, Margaret Yazzie;
sister, Melissa Daw; grandparents, Freddie Yazzie, Frances Yazzie,
Carlence Yazzie, Burke H. Yazzie.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Benally, Rox Yazzie,
Kirk Yazzie, John Knox, Gabe Whitesinger, Peter Lee Yazzie, Ronald
Davis Sr.
The family will receive relatives and friends
at his stepfather, Ronald Davis Sr., resident, 1/4 miles West
of Chinle, following services. The family will meet 6 p.m. June
2-6 at Bashas.
