Gomez died Monday, June
9, 2008, in Gallup. He was born July 18, 1919, in Gibson, N.M.
Rollie Mortuary is in
charge of arrangements.
Ruth Smith
TOHLAKAI Services
for Ruth Gladys Smith, 67, will be 1:30 p.m. June 12, at the Gallup
Christian Center, Gallup. The Rev. Artie Aragon will officiate.
Burial will be in Tohatchi Community Cemetery.
Smith died June 7, 2008,
in Albuquerque. She was born April 28, 1941, in Tohlakai, into
the Meadow People Clan for the Salt Water People Clan.
Smith was a lifelong resident
of Tohlakai. She worked as a nurses aide most of her life,
and was a member of Twin Lakes Chapter.
Survivors include her
daughter, Katherine Velasquez of Salt Lake City, UT.; brother,
George Smith Jr. of Tohlakai; sisters, Alice S. Johnson, Helen
Yazzie of Tohlakai; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Smith was preceded in
death by her son, Roy Lee Fresquez.
Pallbearers will be Raymond
Valasquez; Cecil Joe Jr., Ernie R. Henry, Irvin Livingston, Raymond
Spencer.
Cope Memorial Chapel is
in charge of arrangements.
Katherine Yazzie
LUKACHUKAI Services
for Katherine Yazzie, 78, will be 10 a.m. June 12, at the St.
Isabel Mission, Lukachukai. The Rev. Blain Grein, OFM, will officiate.
Burial will be in family plot, Lukachukai. Visitation will be
one hour prior to services.
Yazzie died June 6, 2008,
in Phoenix. She was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Lukachukai, into the
Water Flows Together People Clan for the Red Running Into the
Water People Clan.
Yazzie was a homemaker.
She was involved in powwows, including the Annual Sam Yazzie Jr.
Memorial Powwow.
Survivors include her
sons, Raymond Yazzie Sr. of Lukachukai, Christopher R. Yazzie
of Lukachukai, Alvin J. Yazzie of Lukachukai, Alfred Brown of
Lupton; daughters, Virginia Yazzie of Lukachukai, Bertha Jishie
of Lukachukai, Rose Yazzie of Lukachukai, Kathleen Frazier of
Lukachukai, Kim Clark of Phoenix; 20 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren;
one great-great-grandchild.
Yazzie was preceded in
death by her parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Kellywood; brothers,
Timothy, Notah, Ned, Johnny, George Sr. Kellywood; sister, Mary
Archie; sons, Sam Yazzie Jr., Daniel Yazzie, Roland Woody.
Pallbearers will be family
members and friends.
Silver Creek Mortuary
