Sex offender sentenced

GRANTS Six people received sentences from District Court
Judge Camille Martinez-Olguin between May 16 and June 9.
Sentenced May 16:
- Marcus Valencia aka Marcus Vigil, 38, was sentenced
to the following time in the Department of Corrections: 18 months
for failure to register as a sex offender, 364 days for attempted
perjury; sentences will run concurrently, for a total sentence
of 18 months, with both sentences to be suspended in exchange
for 18 months of supervised probation. Valencia must register
as a sex offender and keep the sheriffs office informed
of any employment, residence, or school changes in his county
of residence.
- Joyce Estrada, 38, was sentenced to 18
months in the Department of Corrections, with all but six months
being suspended on the condition that Estrada be placed on 12
months of supervised probation. Estrada must also complete The
Womens Recovery Program, remaining in Cibola County Detention
Center until accepted, 100 hours of community service, domestic
violence counseling, and an aftercare program after being released
from Womens Recovery. Estrada was convicted on charges of
tampering with evidence (third- or fourth-degree felony), a fourth
degree offense.
- Judy Montano, 43, was placed on supervised probation
for 18 months. Montano was convicted on charges of possession
of a controlled substance, a fourth degree felony. Montanos
probation may be transferred to Albuquerque.
- Bert Montano, 47, was placed on supervised probation
for 18 months. Montano was convicted on charges of possession
of a controlled substance, a fourth degree felony.
- Bernicella Platero, 36, was sentenced to the
following time in the Department of Corrections: 364 days for
concealing identity, and six months for attempted forgery. The
sentences will run consecutively, with all but eight days being
suspended in exchange for 12 months of supervised probation. Platero
must also complete 100 hours of community service.
- Manuel Gabaldon, 44, was sentenced to 18 months
in the Department of Corrections, with credit for one day served,
and the whole sentence except six months and one day to be suspended
in exchange for supervised probation. Gabaldon is not allowed
to drive, and must have ignition interlocks installed in all vehicles
to which he has access. Gabaldon was convicted on a count of driving
while under the influence, a fourth-degree felony.
One person received a sentence from District Court
Judge William A. Sanchez on June 11:
- Henry Ray Salazar, 44, was sentenced to
18 months in the Department of Corrections, with the entire sentence
being suspended in exchange for 18 months of supervised probation.
Salazar was convicted on a charge of possession of a controlled
substance, a fourth degree felony.
Criminal Information
The following criminal information was submitted between
May 14 and May 16:
- Erik Cisneros, 28, is said to have committed
the following crimes: larceny or embezzlement, both third degree
felonies, on or between Jan. 29, 2007 and Jan. 28, 2008; theft
of identity or theft of identity by electronic fraud, both fourth
degree felonies, and receiving stolen property, a fourth degree
felony, on or between Nov. 29, 2007, and Jan. 11, 2008. Cisneros
waived his preliminary examination hearing.
- Jack Ramone, 49, is said to have committed
the following crimes: driving under the influence of intoxicating
liquor or any drugs (fifth offense), a fourth degree felony; driving
while license suspended/revoked, a misdemeanor; failure to maintain
lane of traffic, a misdemeanor; speeding, a misdemeanor, and open
container, a traffic misdemeanor.
