Benally, Felipe

FORT DEFIANCE — Services for Felipe Duane Benally, 25, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, July 17, at the St. Michaels Catholic Church. The Rev. Ronald F. Walters will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Defiance Cemetery.

Benally died July 12, 2008, in Fort Defiance. He was born Sept. 11, 1982, in Fort Defiance, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the One Who Walks Around You People Clan.

Benally attended Window Rock High School, received his GED at Tsaile and got his high school diploma at the Albuquerque Job Corp along with a welding certificate. He enjoyed drawing, fixing his car, listening to music and spending time with his daughter.

Survivors include his daughter, Hashke’ Tohonnie Rae Benally; parents, Priscella Benally of Fort Defiance, Leonard McCabe of Kinlichee; brothers, Brandon, Robert Benally of Fort Defiance, Leland McCabe of Phoenix; sister, Rosetta Hubbard of Fort Defiance; grandparents, Rose Ann Benally of Fort Defiance, Joseph E. Melteba Sr. of Summit.
Benally was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Elizabeth Tabaha; grandmother, Mary Ann (McCabe) Damon; sister, Francine B. Notah; brother, Leonardo McCabe.

Pallbearers will be Reuben Manuelito, Lorenzo Manuelito, Bryant Yazzie, Derek Williams, Lydell J. Yazzie, T-Jay Meltba.

The family will meet at 5 p.m., today, at the Presbyterian Church, Fort Defiance.

Donations may be made to the family at the meeting.

Fuller, Romona

BLOOMFIELD — Romona Fuller died July 11, 2008, in Bloomfield. She was born June 7, 1936, in Prescott, Ariz.

Fuller was formerly of Gallup and was the only child to Archie and Edith Watson. For many years, she was employed at Clay Fultz Ins. Agency. She was also a knowledgeable collector of fine Native American arts and jewelry.

Survivors include her sons, Rick of Los Lunas, Rex Jr. of University Place, Wa.; daughter, Lori Conaway of Bloomfield; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Fuller was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Sr.; parents, Archie and Edith Watson.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Garcia, Petra

GRANTS — Funeral Mass for Petra Garcia, 74, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, July 17, at the St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Very Rev. Alberto Avella will be the celebrant. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m., today, July 16, at the St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Garcia died July 14, 2008, in Albuquerque. She was born May 27, 1934, in Bernallilo.

Garcia was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Survivors include her children, Michael Garcia of Grants, Merlinda Aguilar of Grants, Nestor Garcia of Grants; brother, Miguel “Lando” Garcia of Belen; sisters, Libby Ortega, Frances “Pancha” Gonzales of Los Lunas; three grandchildren.

Garcia was preceded in death by her parents, Nestor Garcia, Merlinda Rodriguez.

Pallbearers will be Michael Garcia Jr., Joey Aguilar, David Aguilar, Chris Ortega, Ron Garcia, and Frank Becerra.

Jones, Douglas

LUKACHUKAI — Funeral services for Douglas Rex Jones, 44, will be 10 a.m., July 17, at the St. Isabelle Mission, Lukachukai. The Rev. Blaine will officiate. Burial will be in Lukachukai Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.

Jones died July 4, 2008, in Denver. He was born Nov. 2, 1963, in Lukachukai, into the Water’s Edge People Clan for the Red Bottom People Clan.

Jones attended Tohatchi Elementary and High School. He was a silversmith and worked with NTUA. Hobbies included bull riding and drawing.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Begaye; sons, Lorenzo Jones, Russell Jones; daughter, Stacey Jones; parents, Lula and Don Jones; brothers, Paul Jones, Johnny Davis; five grandchildren.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Wheatfields Chapter, following services.

Parpart, Kenneth

GALLUP — Funeral services for Kenneth Frank Parpart, 81, will be 2 p.m., Thursday, July 17, at the Grace Bible Church, Gallup. The Rev. John Luginbuhl will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup.

Parpart died July 12, 2008, in Gallup. He was born Nov. 15, 1926, in Beaver Dam, Wis.

Parpart received his Pharmacy Degree at the University of Wyoming. He was the owner of Ken’s Pharmacy from 1970 to Aug. 1993. He was also the owner of Carol’s Etc. from 1976-1982. Parpart enjoyed history books and traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Parpart of Gallup; son, David Parpart of Tucson; daughters, Carol Parpart of Gallup, Diane Gurule of Los Lunas; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Parpart was preceded in death by his father, Frank Parpart; mother, Linda (Braun) Parpart.

Pallbearers will be Jason Gurule, Jeremy Gurule, Ben Gurule, David Parpart, Ed Oliver, Andy Urbina.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Grace Bible Church, following services.

Shaw, Eleanor

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Graveside services for Eleanor Ann Shaw, will be 9 a.m., July 23, at the Sunset Memorial Park.

Shaw died May 11, 2008, in Lakewood, Colo.
Survivors include her sister, Marjorie Newman of California; son, Carl Shaw of Evergreen, Colo.; daughters, Nancy Reish of Arvada, Colo., Gail Chepin of Gallup; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Shaw was preceded in death by her husbands, Kermit Shaw, Elrod Johnson.
