Chischilly, Rosie

MANUELITO — Funeral services for Rosie Smith Chischilly, 52, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug . 26, at the family residence, Manuelito. Francis Begay will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup.

Chischilly died Aug. 21, 2008, in Gallup. She was born March 26, 1956, in Gallup, into the Sleeping Rock People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Chischilly attended Wingate High School and graduated in 1976. She was the homecoming queen, participated in sports, and was a photographer. She worked at El Sombreo Restaurant and Manuelito Head Start. Chischilly enjoyed spending time with family, watching her daily shows and crocheting.

Survivors included her husband, Francis Chischilly of Manuelito; sons, Jerome Chischilly of Albuquerque, Tyrone Chischilly of Manuelito; daughters, Carri Chischilly of Phoenix, Sharon Chischilly of Manuelito; brother, Hubert Smith of Manuelito; sisters, Esther Arviso of Manuelito, Marilyn Smith of Gamerco, Bertha Smith of Gallup, Nora Smith of Gallup; four grandchildren.
Chischilly was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Smith; sister, Laverne Smith.

Pallbearers will be Jerome Chischilly, Tyrone Chischilly, Hubert Smith, Bertram Hoskie, Matthew Smiley, Joshua Nelson.

The family will meet at the family residence, Manuelito, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Reading, James

GRANTS — Services are pending for James H. Reading, 75.

Reading died Aug. 22, 2008, in Albuquerque. He was born Sept. 26, 1932, in Nogales.

Stevens, Harold Sr.

SUNDANCE — Funeral services for Harold L. Stevens Sr., 61, will be 10 a.m., Aug. 26, at the Rollie Mortuary. Christian G. Watchman will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup.

Stevens died Aug. 21, 2008, in Albuquerque. He was born July 13, 1947, in Ganado.

Stevens graduated from Phoenix Indian School. He was employed with Social Service Fish and Wild Life for the Navajo Nation and Pinehill Boarding School. He served on the school board for Wingate Elementary School. Stevens retired from the BIA Wingate Elementary School in 2001. His hobbies included bullriding, ranching, traveling, playing slot machines in Vegas, and watching wrestling.

Survivors included his wife, Geneva A. Stevens; sons, Randy Randolph of Denver, Thaddeua Stevens of Tohatchi, Harold Stevens Jr. of Scottsdale, Dannie J. Stevens of Sundance; daughters, Neva A. Stevens of Sundance, Pamela Mason of Gallup; sisters, Alice Bates of Shiprock, Caroline Brown of Cornfields; seven grandchildren.
Stevens was preceded in death by his parents, John Stevens, Katherine Roanhorse; son, Arnold Stevens; sisters, Carol Kirk, Ruth Smith, Dorothy Lowe, Ann Frazier.

Pallbearers will be Dannie J. Stevens, Harold Stevens Jr., Thaddeus Stevens.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Grace Navajo Baptist Church, Gallup.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Floria Peshlakai-Attakai

SHEEP SPRINGS — Services are pending for Floria Mae Peshlakai-Attakai, 82.

Attakai died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, in Gallup. She was born July 4, 1926, in Sheep Springs, into the Folded Arms People Clan for the Salt People Clan.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Vigil, Mable

SAN RAFAEL — Services are pending for Mable Anna Vigil, 65.

Vigil died Aug. 22, 2008, in San Rafael. She was born March 2, 1943, in Grants.
