Gaddy, Anita
WIDE RUINS Services for Anita Rose Gaddy,
66, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the St. Annes
Catholic Church, Klagetoh. Burial will be in Wide Ruins. Visitation
will be 9 a.m., Aug. 27, at the St. Annes Church.
Gaddy died Aug. 24, 2008, in Farmington. She
was born Jan. 25, 1942, in Tanner Springs, Ariz., into the Waters
Edge People Clan for the Sleeping Rock People Clan.
Survivors include her husband, Hoskie Gaddy;
sons, Corwin Gaddy, Edgar Gaddy; brothers, Kenneth Chester, Irvin
Chester, Eugene Nez, Randell Nez; sisters, Evelyn Lynch, Charlene
Murphy, Cheryl Nez; six grandchildren.
Gaddy was preceded in death by her daughter, Melinda Gaddy; brothers,
Bennie Chester, Julius Nez; mother, Eleanor C. Nez.
The family will receive relatives and friends
at Wide Ruins Chapter House, following services.

Peshlakai, Floria
SHEEP SPRINGS Memorial services for Floria
Mae Peshlakai, 82, will be 10 a.m., Aug. 29, at the St. Marys
Tohatchi. The Rev. John Mittelstadt, OFM will officiate. Private
disposition will be in Sheep Springs.
Peshlakai died Aug. 22, 2008, in Gallup. She
was born July 4, 1926, in Sheepsprings into the Folded Arms People
Clan for the Salt People Clan.
Peshlakai received her GED, Certified in Reading
and writing the Navajo Language. She was employed by the BIA for
35 years and retired in 1994. She served in jury duty and the
election nomination. Peshlakai received her 10 year, 20 year,
30 year, award and retirement award, while she was employed. Her
hobbies included rug weaving, beading, card weaving, crocheting,
being a seamstress and being outdoors.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Attakai;
son, Francis Watchman Jr.; daughters, Priscilla Watchman, Veronica
Ration, Clara Garcia, Elvira James, Marlene Pearl Attakai-Wilson,
Charlene Attakai; father, Mike Peshlakai; brothers, David Peshlakai,
Amos Johnson, Wallace Johnson; sister, Marie Billie; 29 grandchildren;
17 great-grandchildren.
Peshlakai was preceded in death by Helen Joe,
Wilson Peshlakai, George Johnson, Florence Watchman-Henio, Lena
Dentclaw, William Watchman, Leo Watchman.
The family will receive relatives and friends
at Sheep Springs Chapter, S.S. N.M., following services.

GALLUP Services are pending for Nelson
Peterson, 65.
Peterson died Monday, Aug. 25, in Gallup. He
was born July 1, 1943, in Rock Springs, into the Mountain Cove
People Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan.
A family meeting for friends and relatives will
be 5 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the Rock Springs Chapter House.

Reading, James
GRANTS Private services for James H.
Reading 75, have been held. Burial followed at the Ft. Sam Houston
National Cemetery.
Reading died Aug. 22, 2008, in Albuquerque.
He was born Sept. 26, 1932, in Nogal, N.M.
Reading retired as a Staff Sergeant with the
U.S. Air Force, serving in Korea and the Vietnam Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Reading
of Grants; children, James R. Reading of Sumter, S.C., Cynthia
Lemanski of San Antonio, Frank Curtis of Gainsville, Fla.; stepdaughters,
Lea Smith, of Spring Texas, Laura Barnett of Sandy, Utah; sisters,
Lucy Rupf, Francine Miller; brother, LaRue Reading, David Reading;
seven grandchildren.

Thompson Jr., Fred
YAH-TA-HEY Services for Fred Thompson
Jr. will be 1 p.m., today, Aug. 26, at the First United Methodist
Church. Pastor Bobby Boyd will officiate.
Thompson died Aug. 21, 2008, in Phoenix. He
was born in Crownpoint, into the Red Running Into the Water People
Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.
Thompson graduated from Gallup High School and
attended University of New Mexico majoring in business management.
He served in many facets of public service for the Navajo Nation,
BIA, El Paso Natural Gas Company, Leupp School System, and the
Mariano Lake Elementary School Board. He received numerous awards
for his outstanding service. His hobbies included outdoor activities.
He enjoyed hosting family events.
Survivors include his son, Lance F. Thompson
of Phoenix; daughter, Sherribeth Thompson of Chandler Ariz.; granddaughter,
Morgan Jameson; brothers, Ivan F. Thompson, Calvin F. Thompson,
Virgil F. Thompson, Alvin F. Thompson of Gallup; sister, Gloria
DeRue of Anaheim, Calif.
Thompson was preceded in death by his wife of
34 years, Lori Thompson; close uncle, Tom Snyder; father, Fred
Thompson Sr.; mother, Elaine Chavez-Feodorov.
Pallbearers will be Ivan F. Thompson, Calvin
F. Thompson, Virgil F. Thompson, Alvin F. Thompson, Fredrick Snyder,
and Dyron Thompson.
The family will receive relatives and friends
at the First United Methodist Church, following services.

Vigil, Mable
SAN RAFAEL Funeral Mass for Mable Anna
Vigil, 65, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 28, at the San Rafael
Catholic Church. The Rev. Edwin Bryan will be the celebrant. Burial
will be in San Rafael Community Cemetery. A rosary will be recited
7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the San Rafael Catholic Church.
Viewing will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, at the Church.
Vigil died Aug. 22, 2008, in San Rafael. She
was born March 2, 1943, in Grants.
Vigil had worked many, years as a teacher for
Grants Head Start and for Small Wonders.
Survivors include her children, Ruby Hobbs of
Milan, Jessie Vigil of San Rafael, Lorraine Lerma of Avondale,
Ariz., Wayne Vigil of Grants, Cara Vigil of Milan; sisters, Flora
Ortiz of San Rafael, Corine Rodriguez of San Rafael, Sostena Ortiz
of Phoenix; brother, Cornelio Garcia of Milan; 12 grandchildren;
12 great-grandchildren.
Vigil was preceded in death by her husband,
Ruben Vigil; parents, Hilario Garcia, Clara Saavedra Garcia; sister,
Mary Garcia; brother, Frank Aguilar; granddaughter, Alexandria
Vargas.
Pallbearers will be Jr. Roderiguez, Desini Rodriguez, Adrian Romero,
Ariana Romero, Wayne Vigil Jr., Tasha Vigil, Jose Huerta, Cody
Trout.
