Nicole Ben

GREASEWOOD, Ariz. — Services for Nicole Kathleen Ben, 18, will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept., 13 at Our Lady of the Rosary, Greasewood. The Rev. Paul O’Brien will officiate. Burial will follow at the community cemetery in Greasewood. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Ben died Sept. 9, 2008 in Greaswood. She was born June 14, 1990 in Ganado into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Ben was a senior and she received sports awards for outstanding achievement. Her hobbies included playing basketball, football, music and being outdoors.

Survivors include her parents Alvera Ben and Benjamin K. Begay; brother Joshua Begay of Elko, Nev.; sisters Adrian K. Begay of Las Cruces and Sanná Ben of Greasewood Springs, Ariz.; grandparents Julia Ben and Lorenzo Ben Sr., of Greasewood Springs, Ariz.

Ben was preceded in death by grandparents Kee and Nellie Begay.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Begay, Derrick Ben, Antonio J. Soto, Cedric Begay, Joshua Begay and Joel Perez.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Greasewood Chapter House after services.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Lydia Ettsity

VALLEY STORE, Ariz. — Services for Lydia Willie Ettsity, 75, will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 12 at the Chinle Community Cemetery in Chinle.
Ettsity died Sept. 7, 2008 in Chinle. She was born Aug. 15, 1933 in Flate Rock, Ariz., into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Hopi Clan.

Ettsity was a full-time homemaker, rug weaver. She enjoyed tending to her sheep, especially in lambing season. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Jessie Ettsity; sons, Charlie Billie, Wallace Billie, Haskie Billy Sr., Howard Billie Jr., all of Flate Rock, Ariz., Dale Billie of Rexburg, Idaho, Nelson Billie of Valley Store, Benson Billie of Del Muerto, Ariz.; daughters Ilene Billie, Helen Billie, both of Flate Rock, Loraine Billie of Valley Store, Darlene Sam of Whitehouse Overlook, Ariz.; sisters Elouise Hosteen of Rexburg, Idaho, Helen Yazzie and Ruth Robinson, both of Flate Rock; 41 grandchildren adn 33 great-grandchildren.

Etsitty was preceded in death by her parents Sam and Habah Willie.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Ettsity’s residence, seven and one-half miles north of Chinle Basha’s.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Evans

GALLUP — Services for Elizabeth Jean Evans, 63, will be at 10 a.m. at Rollie Mortuary. The Rev. Mike Kleeberger will officiate. Burial will follow in Gallup City Cemetery.

Evans died Sept. 8, 2008. She was born June 25, 1945 in Ganado, Ariz.

Evans went to high school in Espanola, N.M. and Hardin Simmins University in Abilene, Texas. She worked for ONEO, Fort Wingate Schools, Gallup Ceremonial, parks, and the Visitors and Convention Center. She enjoyed going to powwows, reading, sewing, cooking and working puzzles.

Survivors include her brothers Aaron Evans, Nathan Evans; sister Margie Kenton and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Theodore Evans and Treva Evans.

Pallbearers will be Nathaniel “Theo” Evans, Victor Evans, Don Tolino, William Shorty Lewis, Ray Cometsevah and Ervin Tsosie.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Church Rock Chapter House after services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
