Lloyd Baker
GALLUP Memorial services for Lloyd S. Baker, 73, will
be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Rollie Mortuary. Family
members will officiate.
Baker died Sept. 13, 2008, in Gallup. He was born April 19, 1935,
in Whitewater, N.M.
Baker graduated from Gallup High School. He was employed by the
BIA in Fort Defiance. His hobbies included reading, walking, loved
sitting on the front porch watching ball games. He was a huge
fan of the Cowboys and the Cubs.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Baker of Gallup; son, Neal
Baker of Richland Hills, TX.; daughters, Joanna Baker of Gallup,
Lisa Caviggia of Albuquerque; brothers, Floyd Baker of Farmington,
Paul Baker of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Baker was preceded in death by his mother, Hattie; father, Calvin;
sisters, Fern, Ruth and Claire.
A reception will be at the Baker residence, 601 East Green.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Relay for Life.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Neal Begay
ALBUQUERQUE Services are pending for Neal Begay, 35.
Begay died Sept. 12, 2008, in Albuquerque. He was born June 17,
1973, in Albuquerque.
A family meeting will be 6 p.m., tonight, at the family home,
Scotty Begay Jr. residence, Sundance house #36.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Jeanette Johnson
SHEEP SPRINGS Funeral services for Jeanette Watchman Johnson,
89, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Sheep Springs Pentecostal
Church. The Rev. Tommy Yazzie will officiate. Burial will be in
Sheep Springs Cemetery.
Johnson died Sept. 9, 2008, in Gallup. She was born April 15,
1919, in Sheep Springs, into the Towering House People Clan for
the Red Running Into the Water People Clan.
Johnson was self-employed. She was a rug weaver, silversmith
and sand painter. Johnson was a member of Sheep Springs Pentecostal
Church and liked to read her bible.
Survivors include her sons, Wilson Price Sr., Wilbur Johnson,
Robert Johnson, Jasper Johnson; daughter, Rose Elridge, brothers,
Alfredo
Watchman, Alfred Watchman; sisters, Alice Ben Yazzie, Minnie
Begay; 44 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren.
Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Martinez Johnson;
sons, William Johnson, Montoya Johnson, David V. Lee; daughter,
Ruth Lee Masquat.
Pallbearers will be Melvin Masquat Jr., Tyson Lee, Hershel Lee,
Derrick Johnson, Zachariah Johnson, Matthew Johnson.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Jeanette Johnsons
and Wilson Price Sr.s area.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mae Tohegleenie
WHEATFIELDS Funeral services for Mae Tohegleenie, 87,
will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the St. Isabel Mission,
Lukachukai. Burial will be in Community Cemetery, Lukachukai.
Visitation will be 10 a.m., one hour prior to services at the
church.
Tohegleenie died Sept. 12, 2008, in Winslow. She was born Aug.
15, 1922, in Wheatfields, into the Red Cheek People Clan for the
Water Flowing Together People Clan.
Survivors include her son, John Chee of Iyanbito; daughters,
Millie Allen, Nellie Tsosie, Louise Tso, Betty Allen, all of Wheatfields;
24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Tohegleenie was preceded in death by her father, Hosteen Tohegleenie;
mother, Glenabah Tohegleenie; sister, Ella Mae Nez; brother, Tully
Begay Sr., one grandson.
Pallbearers will be Clifford Allen, Randall Allen, Dempsey Tso,
Marlin Tsosie, Michael Tsosie, Raymond Tsosie.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Mae Tohegleenies
residence, Wheatfields.
Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
