David Elkins
GALLUP Funeral services for David Elkins, 72, will be
11 a.m., Sept. 30, at Prewitt Fair Grounds. Arnold West will officiate.
Burial will be in family land.
Elkins died Sept. 25, 2008, in Gallup. He was born May 17, 1936,
in Prewitt.
Elkins graduated from Grants High School in 1954. He was in the
U.S. Army, Sergeant E-5, 2nd Armored Disivision, Fort Hood, Texas.
Elkins was a lifelong rancher, and Indian Trader and 40 years
Navajo Shopping Center.
Survivors include his sons, Philip Wade Elkins Sr., of Thoreau,
Adrian Matt Elkins of Gilbert, Ariz.; daughter, Josephine Lynnette
Elkins of Milan; brothers, Donald James of Aztec, Lynn Embert
of Grants; sister, Mildred Joan of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren.
Elkins was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Lawrence,
Josephine Maude; brothers, Thomas Lawrence Jr., Joseph Kindred,
Jack L. Lee, Keith Lowell, Fredrick Vernon; sisters, Hattie Bell,
Lynn Embert.
Pallbearers will be Philip Elkins, Nicholas Elkins, Dillon Elkins,
Wade Elkins, Matt Elkins, Thomas Elkins Jr.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Prewitt Fair
Grounds, following services.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Ann Rodarte
GRANTS Funeral Mass for Ann E. Rodarte, 75, will be 10
a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. The Very Rev. Alberto
Avella will be the celebrant. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m.,Tuesday,
Sept. 30, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.
Rodarte died Sept. 26, 2008, in Grants. She was born Sept. 3,
1933, in Rodarte, N.M.
Rodarte moved to Grants in 1959 and have lived there since. She
worked for Head Start as a teacher for many years. She worked
at Gibson Dept. Store and Alco Dept. Store. Then stopped working
so she could enjoy her grandchildren and great-grandson.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Rodarte of Grants; children,
Marvella Shaw of Albuquerque, Gary Rodarte of Grants, Elmer Rodarte
of Grants; sister, Mary Vilpando of Santa Fe; nine grandchildren;
one great-grandson.
Rodarte was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Phillip Rodarte;
mother, Justa Martinez; father, Jose Arguello; sister, Juanita
Vega.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Rodarte, Steven Shaw, Lori Rodarte,
Robert Shaw, Matthew Shaw, Gabriella Rodarte.

Edna Spolar
GALLUP Memorial services for Edna Mae (Tamony) Spolar,
91, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Rollie Mortuary Palm
Chapel, Gallup. The Rev. Mr. Michael Sullivan will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup. Visitation will
be 8 a.m.-5 p.m., today, Sept. 29, at Rollie Mortuary.
Spolar died Sept. 23, 2008, in Grants. She was born May 25, 1917,
in Allison.
Solar was the owner of A.C. Spolar Electric. Her hobbies included
bowling, traveling, and reading.
Survivors include her son, Justin Sky Winchester, of Boston; one
grandchild.
Spolar was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony C. Spolar;
daughter, Linda Winchester; father, Edward W. Tamony; mother,
Edna Tamony; brothers, Edward F. Tamony, James W. Tamony, Fred
R. Tamony.
Pallbearers will be Sky Winchester, Frank Spolar, Kurt Spolar,
Keith Spolar, Michael Jarrett Spolar, Eurell T. Malone.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Elks Lodge,
Gallup, following services.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grants Good Samaritan,
840 Lobo Canyon Rd., Grants; Rehoboth McKinley Christian Hospital
Social Services, 1901 Red Rock Dr., Gallup.
