LaVina Barton

TOHATCHI – Services for LaVina Fay Barton, 49, will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Gallup. The Rev. Jim Bostic will officiate. Burial will follow at Tohatchi Community Cemetery.

Barton died Sept. 26, 2008 in Albuquerque. She was born July 31, 1959 in Fort Defiance into the Cochiti Pueblo Cottonwood Clan for the Salt People Clan.

Barton graduated from Tohatchi High School and took college courses for early childhood education. She worked for Head Start Central Office in Window Rock and helped to develop Tohatchi Heat Start, AZ PAL of White Mountain, Phoenix and Fort Summerton, Tohatchi Boys and Girls Club. She also coordinated Youth Activities, NFL camps, softball, little league, District 14 Youth Council and NM MidCap Gallup Head Start. She was involved with the Tohatchi Baptist church and enjoyed reading her bible, listening to gospel music, gardening, playing softball, sewing, watching reruns of The Waltons, spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband Alvin Bartin (Oliver) of Tohatchi; sons Wayne Santiago Barton, Russell Craig Barton, both of Tohatchi; daughter Jenielle Hope Barton of Tohatchi; parents Levon B. Benally Sr., Lupita Q. Benally, both of Tohatchi; brothers Levon B. Benally Jr., Lynoll P. Benally, Lyle C. Benally, all of Tohatchi; sisters Lavern Nicole Walker Brown, Lynette S., Jim, Leandra G. Benally, all of Tohatchi; and one grandchild.

Barton was preceded in death by her daughter Deidra H. Barton.

Pallbearers will be Charles Naranho, Jay Barton, Kevin Benally, Aaron D. Jim Jr., Casey Franchot and Gary Ben.

The family will receive relatives and friends at T.A.O.S. Cafeteria in Tohatchi, following services.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Myla Benecke

Correction for Myla Benecke
Funeral services for Myla Ashley Benecke were 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at the Assembly of God, family church.

RABBIT BRUSH, N.M. — Services for Myla Ashley Benecke, infant, will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct, 10 at the Family Church Assembly of God in Fort Defiance. Burial will follow at the Fort Defiance Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour before services at the church.

Benecke was born and died on Sept. 26, 2008 in Chinle into the Charcoal Streak People Clan into the Anglo Clan.

Survivors include her parents James Patrick Benecke and Valerie Cleveland; brother Richard Shane Benecke; sisters Jamie Ann Benecke, Charry Lou Benecke; grandfather Irving J. Cleveland.

Benecke was preceded in death by her grandmother Rufina Nez Cleveland.

Pallbearers will be Ivan Cleveland, James Bernecke.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Blanche Caudill

GRANTS — Services for Blanche Evelyn Caudill, 79, will be announced at a later date.

Caudill died Sept. 28, 2008 in Albuquerque. She was born June 5, 1929 in Glenwood, N.M.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

William Henderson

GALLUP — Services for William (Bill) E. Henderson will be announced at a later date.

Henderson died Sept. 28, 2008 in Albuquerque.

He was born Aug. 17, 1941 in Gallup.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
