Deaths

Louise Etsitty

MEXICAN SPRINGS — Funeral services for Louise Sandoval Etsitty, 85, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Christian Reformed Church, Tohatchi. Milton Shirleson will officiate. Burial will be in Lone Pine Cemetery, Mexican Springs.

Etsitty died Sept. 29, 2008, in Gallup. She was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Tohatchi, into the Clumped Tree People Clan for the Salt People Clan.

Etsitty was a homemaker and a rug weaver. Her hobbies included crosswords, sewing, and taking care of her grandchildren. She was involved with traditional Indian cultural activities.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Tom Etsitty of Mexican Springs; sons, Milton Shirleson of Window Rock, Manuel Shirleson of Tohatchi, Eugene Shirleson of Fort Defiance, Ernest Etsitty of Mexican Springs, Roger Etsitty of Sanostee, Leander Etsitty of Mexican Springs; daughter, Kathleen Etsitty of Mexican Springs; brother, Willie Sandoval of Tohatchi; sister, Alice S. Benallie of Tohatchi; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Etsitty was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas Sandoval, Leo Sandoval; parents, Willie Mike, Al’ Chiban Sandoval; one granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Cornelius Etsitty, Eric Etsitty, Marcus Etsitty, Donavon Norton, Jared Johnson, T.J. Upshaw.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Mexican Springs Chapter House, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Bernice Hampton

TSAYATOH — Services are pending for Bernice Capitan Hampton, 92.

Hampton died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, in Gallup. She was born July 14, 1916, in Springstead, into the Zuni People Clan for the Sleeping Rock People Clan.

A family meeting will be 6 p.m., tonight, Oct. 3, at the Coyote Canyon Chapter House.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
