Virginia Denetdale

GALLUP — Funeral services for Virginia Denetdale, 89, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. Burial will be in Smith Lake Cemetery, Smith Lake.

Denetdale died Sept. 28, 2008, in Gallup. She was born in Smith Lake, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Denetdale previously lived in Whittier, Calif. She was married to Myron Denetdale.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Carol Escajeda

GALLUP — Funeral services for Carol Ann Escajeda, 52, will be 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 7, at St. Francis Church, Gallup. The Rev. Patrick will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial, Gallup. A rosary will be recited 9:30 a.m., Oct. 7, at St. Francis Church.

Escajeda died Oct. 3, 2008, in Gallup. She was born Nov. 20, 1955, in Gallup.

Escajeda graduated from Gallup High School in 1973. She loved spending time with her four boys and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Escajeda; sons, Dominic Escajeda of Gallup, Jude Escajeda of Albuquerque, Kevin Escajeda of Gallup, Reggie Escajeda of Gallup; mother, Angie Ramirez of Gallup; brothers, James Ramirez of Grants, Zach Ramirez of Gallup; sisters, Rita Ramirez of Gallup, Tammy Espinosa of Gallup; three grandchildren.

Escajeda was preceded in death by her father, Sebastian Ramirez; brother, Bo Ramirez.

Pallbearers will be Butch Espinosa, Rocko Espinosa, Jude Escajeda, Kevin Escajeda, Dominic Escajeda, Reggie Escajeda.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the KC Hall, Gallup, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Bernice Hampton

TSAYATOH — Funeral services for Bernice Capitan Hampton, 92, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Rollie Mortuary Palm Chapel. The Rev. Edward Gruber will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-4:30 p.m., today, Oct. 6, at Rollie Mortuary.

Hampton died Oct. 2, 2008, in Gallup. She was born July 14, 1916, in Spring Stead, into the Zuni People Clan for the Sleeping Rock People Clan.

Hampton graduated in 1941, from Navajo Methodist Mission School. She got her bachelor’s degree, and was a registered nurse in Keams Canyon, Ariz. Hampton was employed at O.N.E.O., Crownpoint Indian Health Service, and was an active member at the Senior Citizen Center in Mentmore. She helped run the Manuelito Children’s home.

Survivors include her son, Burney Hampton; daughter, Kathleen Hampton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Hampton was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Hampton; parents, Joe Capitan Sr., Nahne Bah Capitan; sisters, Anna Holyan, Rose Hudson, Hades Bah Morgan, Violet Tso, Rhoda James; brothers, Joe Capitan Jr., Wilmer Capitan, Bennie Capitan.

Pallbearers will be Wilber Capitan, Jason James, Ed Holyan, Bryon Tso, Cornell James, Bobby Tso Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Bethany Christian Reformed Church, Gallup, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
