Luther Carpenter Jr.

GALLUP – Services for Luther Carpenter, Jr., 77, will be announced at a later date.

Carpenter died March 25, 2008 in Gallup. . He was born Nov. 3, 1930 in Montrose, Colo.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Leo Thomas

CHINLE – Services for Leo P. Thomas, 79, will be at 11 a.m., Friday, March 28, 2008 at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Chinle. Burial will follow on family land in Chinle. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., one hour prior to services at the church .

Thomas died March 23, 2008 in Shiprock. He was born July 14, 1928 in Shiprock into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Tangle People Clan.

Thomas worked for BIA in property and supply, rare metals and NTUA in Tuba City for 36 years. He also worked for the uranium mines in Arizona, Colorado and Utah off and on during the summer. He enjoyed football, basketball, baseball, softball and coaching.

Survivors include his wife Marjorie Williams Thomas; sons Vincent Thomas, LeVon Thomas Sr., Leon Thomas, LaVor Thomas, Loren Thomas Sr.; daughters Betty L. Tsinnie, Leone Thomas, Leah King; brothers Sam, Johnny, Louis, Peter,; sisters Louise, Martha, Mary Lucy; 24 grandchildren, 14 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Vincent Thomas, LeVon Thomas Sr., Leon Thomas, LaVor Thomas, Loren Thomas Sr., and Alfred Thomas.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Our Lady of Fatima Parish Hall after services.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
