Jewel Allan

ASPEN — Services for Jewel Dean Civerolo Allan, 95, will be 2 p.m., Thursday, May 8th, at the St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church on the New Mexico State Los Lunas Campus. Reverend Robert Mundy will officiate. Internment will be Friday, May 9th, at Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup. Visitation will be 2–5 p.m., Wednesday, May 7th, at the Aspen Funeral home, 1935 Juan Tabo N.E.

Allan died May 6th, 2008 in Albuquerque. She was born August 8, 1912, in Gilmore, OK.

Allan was a long time resident of Los Lunas and Gallup. She moved to the southwest in the early 1930’s where she was one of the famed Harvey Girls, serving both in the Grand Canyon and Gallup. In 1939 she married Art Civerolo and settled in Gallup. Art passed away in 1969. She then married Robert H. “Bob” Allan on Christmas in 1971. In 1994 they moved to Los Lunas to be closer to their family. Bob passed away in 1998. Allan belonged to the St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Los Lunas. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the BPO Does.

Survivors include her son, Pete Allan of Albuquerque; daughters, Nancy Minor of Aztec, Linda Hamilton of Albuquerque, Ellen Tomberlin of Los Lunas, Jolene Day of Albuquerque; sisters, Opal of Poteau, OK., Lorene of Poteau; 14 grandchildren;13 great-grandchildren.

Allan was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Isaacs.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 2489, Los Lunas, NM 87031-2489 or to the Poteau Cemetery in Poteau, OK.

Shirley Becenti

SANOSTEE, N.M. — Funeral services for Shirley Joe Becenti, 42, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, May 8, at the First United Methodist Church of Shiprock. Pastor Perry Shorty will officiate. Interment will follow at the Shiprock Community Cemetery.

Becenti died Saturday, May 3, 2008, in Farmington. She was born March 29, 1966, in Shiprock, New Mexico.

Becenti was lovable, friendly, outgoing, compassionate, and giving. Her hobbies included quilting, baking, cooking, camping, fishing, shopping and taking nature hikes. Her favorite songs were by Fleetwood Mac, Bob Marley, XIT, CCR and Waylon Jennings.

Becenti graduated from Window Rock High School in 1984 and attended Gateway Community College and Pima Medical Institute. She was employed with St. Michaels Association Special Education and the Navajo Nation Purchasing Office.

Survivors include her children, Kyle Becenti, Sheridan Becenti, Shashona Becenti, Isaiah Fuller, Jr.; mother, Nancy Aunt Billie of Sanostee, NM.; siblings, Jeffrey Joe of Shiprock, Homer Joe of Twin Lakes, Lena Joe of Oaksprings, Johnnie Miller, Cameron Billie of Sanostee, NM.

Becenti was preceded in death by her father, Sammy Joe; grandparents, Atcitty Nez Benally & Mary Ann Benally; brother, Ronald Billie

Annette Black

GALLUP — Services are pending for Annette M. Black, 45.

Black died Monday, May 5, 2008, in Gallup. She was born June 30, 1962, in Monticello, UT.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
