Bonnie Gillreath

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Memorial services for Bonnie Gillreath, 71, will be 11 a.m. May 15, at the First Baptist Church, Thoreau. Pastor Bob Brittian will officiate.
Gillreath died May 8, 2008, in Thoreau. She was born Aug. 3, 1936, in Bakersfield, Calif.

Survivors include her sister, Sarah Jo Stewart; brothers, Robert Brannon, Charles Brannon; son, Grant Gillreath; daughters, Deana Walterscheid, Renee Allen; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Gillreath was preceded in death by her parents.

Ernest Gurley

MILAN — Memorial services for Ernest “Bud” Douglas Gurley, 75, will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 12, at the Compassion Mortuary.

Gurley died May 7, 2008, in Milan. He was born Jan. 18, 1933, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Gurley was the owner of the Grants Lock and Key in Milan at the time of his death. He had lived in Gallup and Grants area. Gurley was also a veteran of the armed services.

Survivors include his brothers, Joe Gurley of Rio Rancho, David Gurley of Sparks, Nev., Allen Gurley of Sun City, Ariz., Donald Gurley of Reno, Nev.; sisters, Nellie Tefalu of Youngtown, Ariz., Betty Holtke of Cincinnati, OH., Susie Gurley of Phoenix; children, Karen Gurley of Flagstaff, April Gurley of Monte Vista, Colo.; step-children, Tammy DeWeese of Gallup, Michael Mullins of Shiprock, Valentino Watchman of Las Vegas, Nev., Pasquale Martin of Phoenix, Marty Martin of Gallup, Mark Martin of Albuquerque; many grandchildren.

Gurley was preceded in death by his parents, Rankin Gurley, Flora Pleasant Gurley; brother, James Gurley; son, Ernest D. Gurley Jr.; wife, Mary Mullins-Gurley.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Jim

GALLUP — Funeral services for Mary Jim, 76, will be 1 p.m. May 12, at the Cope Memorial Chapel. Sister Terry Goodin will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup.

Jim died May 8, 2008, in Albuquerque. She was born June 15, 1932, in Gallup, into the Black Streak Wood People Clan.

Jim was a homemaker. She loved to go to Song and Dances.

Survivors include her sons, Nelson Johnson of Gallup, Robert Johnson of Thoreau, Thomas Johnson of Gallup; daughters, Irene Yazzie of Gallup; sisters, Lousie Jim of Gallup, Bessie Skeets of Gallup; 31 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by her daughter, Ella Mae Wero; grandson, Robert Johnson Jr.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Livingston, Danny Yazzie, Allen Lee, Stanford Yazzie, Harley Joe, and Tony Yazzie Jr.

The family will meet at Churchrock Chapter House, following services.

Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.

Jason Johnson

GALLUP — Funeral services for Jason L. Johnson, 34, will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 12, at the Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.

Johnson died May 6, 2008, in Gallup. He was born Sept. 18, 1973, in Gallup.

Johnson attended Fort Wingate School and Gallup High School. He was employeed with Paul Romero as a silversmith. Johnson was loved by all who knew him.

Survivors include his mother, Marie Johnson; brothers, Bobby Johnson of Gallup; sisters, Betty Wilson, Kathym Johnson, both of Gallup, Bella Williams of Phoenix.

Johnson was preceded in death by his father, Leo Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Gary Wilson, Derrick Mike, Benjamin Mike, Bennie Sam, Emery Sam, Robert Miller, Ray Jack, and Edison Brown.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Marie Johnson residence, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
