Start talking before they start drinking, will be 5-8 p.m. May
29, at the Thoreau High School, and 5-8 p.m., June 2, at the Tohatchi
Chapter House. Refreshments provided. Everyone welcome. Be informed
of how the alcohol industries are targeting you. Know how your
parents can go to jail and you can join them.

Addiction Classes
GANADO Free addiction recovery classes
patterned after the 12 step AA program for addiction recovery
are being offered weekly in Ganado at the LDS Church next to Hubbell
Trading Post. Two classes are held each Tuesday, one at 10 a.m.
and another onian gospel principles and participation in confidential.
Adult family members and friends affected by alcohol and drug
addictions in their loved ones, are also invited to attend. No
children please. There is no charge for the class, other than
$3 for the workbook. Call Elder Wilcox at 755-3999 for more info.
Support Group
GALLUP An open, facilitated support group
for individuals coping with any psychiatric condition. Do you
live with depression, anxiety, PTSD, bi-polar disorder or schizophrenia?
This is a free group that meets weekly on Tuesday evenings from
6:30-8 p.m. No pre-enrollment needed. Call 505-235-3200 for location

Scholarship Opportunity
GALLUP The Old Timers Softball Association
is sponsoring a scholarship program for graduating high school
seniors. This year the organization will award four scholarships
of $500. Preference will be given to qualified applicants who
plan to attend UNM-Gallup, and the scholarship award is for one
year only.
Applicants need to write a letter, 500 to 700 words in length,
explaining their academic goals in college, their career goals,
and why they have a financial need for the scholarship. Letters
should be mailed to: G. Lopez, 405 E. Montoya, Gallup, N.M. 87301;
applicants must include their name, mailing address, and phone
number. Letters must be received by June 16, 2008. Recepients
will be notified by Friday, June 27, 2008.
Quadrathlon
GRANTS Mt. Taylor Quadrathlon is requesting
design art for the 26th Quadrathlon T-shirt Contest. T-shirt design
art may have 2-4 colors, and must be delivered in an electronic
PDF or GIF format. First place will receive $250 for designing
2009 Mt. Taylor Quadrathlon T-shirt. Mail entries to Mt. Taylor

Womens Award
GALLUP Soroptimist International of Gallup
is accepting nominations for its annual making a Difference
for Women Award. Nominees should be local women who are
making personal or professional efforts to improve the lives of
