CASAMERO LAKE — Accepting applications for summer scholarship beginning June 1, through June 30. Only the applicants that were approved through the regular chapter meeting has up to the 30th of June to turn in all required documents.

Cutting for a Cure

GALLUP — Cutting for a cure, will be 11 a.m.-3 p.m. June 1, at the Mystique Salon, 509 South 3rd Street. Haircuts are $10. Haircuts only, to help cure cancer. All proceeds go to American Cancer Society.

Should bring all VA correspondences, DD-214, medical records, marriage license, divorce decree, death certificate, birth certificate, all income award letters, medical expenses, social security card etc.

SHIPROCK — The Central Consolidated School District No. 22 monthly Indian Education Committee Meeting will be 5:30 p.m., June 2, at the CCSD Shiprock Board Room. Lady Kinlichiinii

REHOBOTH — The Rehoboth Church will host Julie Redhouse and friends as special musical guests on Sunday, June 1. Lady Kinlichiinii — Redhouse and friends — will lead the music during the 10:30 a.m. service and will present a 3 p.m. concert of praise and worship. Redhouse’s spiritual journey began in a home with a medicine man father and a Christian mother. After being initiated as a medicine woman in the Native American Church, Redhouse eventually left the peyote tradition and came back to the Christian faith of her mother. Tent Services

STANDING ROCK — The Second Annual Tent Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, June 2-7, at Irvin Smith’s residence in the Standing Rock, N.M. community. The event, which is held in memory of Lorraine M. Smith, will feature evangelists Jerry Domingo, Shawn Benally, and David Lee. RIO RANCHO — St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Rio Rancho, N.M. is hosting a men’s conference on Saturday, June 7. Tom Bee

REHOBOTH — The Rehoboth Church will host Native musician and music producer Tom Bee as a special musical guest on Sunday, June 8. Bee, a Gallup native who went on to lead the Native American rock band XIT, will lead the music during the 10:30 a.m. service and will present a 3 p.m. concert of praise and worship. REHOBOTH — The Rehoboth Church will host a workshop on Liturgical Dance and Creative Movement in Worship from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11. Flagstaff Camp

FLAGSTAFF — The Flagstaff Mission to the Navajos is sponsoring the following two events in June:
• 60th Anniversary Celebration, Saturday, June 14: Registration is at 9 a.m., the celebration service is at 10 a.m., and lunch is at noon. The fee is $10 per person.
• Family Summer Camp, June 15-20: This year’s theme is “Faith to All Generations.” During the evening sessions, Burt Downs will speak in English and Jessie Billy will speak in Navajo. There will be special events for church pastors, youth groups, and children. Twilight Retreat

GALLUP — The Sacred Heart Retreat Center, located two miles south of Gallup, will host a Twilight Retreat from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17. Father Joe Blonski will discuss the Blessed Columba Marmion and the spiritual classic “Christ, the Life of the Soul.” The $20 fee includes dinner. Reservations are needed by June 10. Gallup Girls Basketball Camp

GALLUP — The Gallup High School Girls Summer Basketball Camp will take place June 2-5 at Gallup High School.
Entry fee is $30. Participants will receive a basketball and t-shirt. Registration will be at the door from 7 a.m.-Noon. Instruction will include shooting, passing, dribbling, footwork, rebounding, jumping, defense and basic skills.
Times are 8 a.m.-Noon for grades 4-7 and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. for grades 8-10.

Wings Camp

GALLUP — The Wings Of America Running & Fitness Camp will take place June 2-3 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the UNM-Gallup Gymnasium.

Brooke Spencer Memorial Tournament

GALLUP — The 1st Annual Brooke Linelle Spencer Memorial Basketball Tournament will take place June 5-7 at the Gallup High School Gymnasium.
Team admission is $150 (part of the proceeds going to Shelter Homes). There is a 15-and-under, eight boys and eight girls teams and 18-and-under eight boys and eight girls teams tournament. Awards will be given.

GALLUP — The Lil’ Boyz 12-and-under boys and girls basketball tournament will take place June 5-8 at Juan De Onate Elementary School.

Swinging For A Cure

GALLUP — The 3rd Annual Swinging For A Cure coed softball tournament will take place June 7-8 at the Gallup Sports Complex.

Ride For The Cure

PINON, Ariz. — The Ride For The Cure bull riding competition will take place June 14 at 7 p.m. at the Pinon Community Rodeo Grounds.
Entry fees are $80 for open bull, $65 for novice bull, $45 for steer riding (13-and-under) and $30 for wooly riding (6-and-under).
