Dennis Chavez

GRANTS — Funeral Mass for Dennis David Chavez, 23, will be 10 a.m., Friday, March 27, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. The Very Rev. Alberto Avella will be the celebrant. A rosary will be 7 p.m., tonight, March 26, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Chavez died March 22, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born Dec. 2, 1985, in Grants.

Survivors include his parents, David and Gloria Chavez of Grants; sister, Desiree Chavez of Grants; grandparents, Gilbert and Angie Chavez of Rio Rancho, Bennie Gallegos of Grants.

Chavez was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alfredo Gallegos Jr.

Pallbearers will be Gilbert Chavez, Rick Chavez, Leroy Chavez, Eddie Chavez, Danny Chavez, Chris Diaz.

Agnes Lee

RED ROCK — Funeral services for Agnes Morgan Lee, 94, will be 10 a.m., Friday, March 27, at Red Rock Church of God, Red Rock. The Rev. Terry Goodin will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery, Gallup.

Lee died March 23, 2009, in Gallup. She was born July 1, 1914, in Red Rock, into the Black Streak People Clan for the Salt People Clan.

Lee went to school in Tohatchi and Fort Wingate. She was a homemaker. Her hobbies included sewing, weaving, singing, reading the bible, teaching, and talking to grandchildren. Lee also took care of livestock. She was a loving and caring mother.

Survivors include her sons, Charles B. Lee of Red Rock, Herbert Lee, Thoreau, Anthony Lee of Red Rock, Fredrick Lee of Red Rock; daughters, Annie Nez of Red Rock, Gladys Kerchava of Red Rock, Mattie Yessilth of Red Rock; 36 grandchildren; 124 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Lee was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee; sons, Benjamin Lee, Raymond Lee, Clearence Lee; brother, Harry Lee; sister, Bah Hoskie.

Pallbearers will be Leland Lee, Fernando Lee, Stenson Lee Jr., Lanford Lee, Leander Lee, Gary Lee.

The family will receive relatives and friends at family gathering place, 2 miles south of Gallup on Hwy. 602, Council Delegate Fola Nelson’s residence.

Kyoko Martinez

GRANTS — Memorial services for Kyoko Martinez, 77, will be 1 p.m., Friday, March 27, at Compassion Mortuary. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park.

Kyoka died March 22, 2009, in Albuquerque. She was born Feb. 25, 1932, in Japan.

Survivors include her son, Marcus Salvaggio of Albuquerque; sister, Kideko Massey of Abilene, Texas; one grandchild.

Martinez was preceded in death by her husband, Margarito Martinez; parents, Tamaji Kayama, Tomi Asada Kayama; sister, Hisako Nagasama.

Edmund Morris

PHOENIX — Funeral services for Edmund Morris, 50, will be 10 a.m., Friday, March 27, at Rollie Mortuary. The Rev. Jerry Eastridge will officiate. Burial will be in Rehoboth Cemetery, Rehoboth.

Morris died Friday, March 20, 2009, in Rehoboth, into the Water Flows Together People Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan.

Morris graduated from Tohatchi High School in 1978. He enlisted in the US Army in 1978 to 1982 and completed Jump School with the 101st Ariborne Division in Fort Campbell, Ky. He was employed with the Gallup McKinley County Schools District in 1986, where he was a bus driver and mechanic and later became a supervisor for Tohatchi Bus Barn. His hobbies included fishing, carving, drawing, roping and spending time with his granddaughter.

Survivors include his daughters, Monica Guerur of Brookings, S.D., Shawna R. Morris of Gallup; parents, Leo and Bessie Morris of Mexican Springs; brothers, Darrell Morris of Farmington, Leonardo Morris of Farmington; sisters, Deborah Morris of Fort Defiance, Verna Morris of Phoenix, Delphine Povatah of Flagstaff; one grandchild.

Morris was preceded in death by his wife, Lena R. Morris.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Bates, Randall Halona, Joshua Povatah, Benjamin Povatah, Duwayne Morris, Michael Morris, Travis Manuelito, Eldrick Morris.

The family will receive relatives and friends at KC Hall, Gallup, following services.

Jimmie Tsosie

CHINLE — Services are pending for Jimmie S. Tsosie, 47.

Tsosie died Friday, March 20, 2009, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born April 21, 1961, in Red Wood City, Calif.

A family gathering will be 6 p.m., tonight, March 26, at 1/4 miles north Chinle Police Department, Route 7, family residence.
