Jimmy Begay

SANDERS — Graveside services for Jimmy Andrew Begay, 69, were 10 a.m., today, March 27, at Community Cemetery. Burial was in Community Cemetery, Jeddito.

Begay died March 24, 2009, in Winslow. He was born Dec. 8, 1939, in Fort Defiance, into the Edge Water People Clan for the Near the Water People Clan.

Begay attended Inter Mountain in Brigram City, Utah. He was a Silversmith and worked at Navajo County Road Dept. Begay was a member of the NAC, and liked to fish, hunt deer and go camping. He enjoyed outdoor activities.

Survivors include his wife, Lydia J. Begay of Sanders; sons, Marvin Begay of White River, Jeffery Begay of Tsaile, Jerome Begay of Vanderwagon, Farrell, Darrell Yonnie of Jeddito; daughters, LuCelia Dean of Whooperwill, Ariz., Angela of Vanderwagon, Sharon of Tsaile, Dayanne Johnson of Rock Springs; brothers, Richard Begay of Sawmill, Stanley Tillden of Sawmill, Gilbert Tillden of Sawmill; sisters, Eleanor Tillden of Sawmill, Glenda Pittman of Oklahoma; five grandchildren.

Begay was preceded in death by his father, George Begay; mother, Glennebah Wood; brothers, Andrew Lee Begay, Wilbert Bennie Tilden; son, Michael Begay.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Lester Bennett

GAMERCO — Services for Lester Don Bennett, 53, will be 10 am., Saturday, March 28, at Compassion Mortuary. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. The Rev. James D. Bennett Jr. will officiate.

Bennett died March 24, 2009, in Mariano Lake. He was born Nov. 24, 1955, in Crownpoint, into the Water Edge People Clan for the Chiricahua-Apache Running into the Red Streak People Clan.

Bennett was employed at Cheveron Mine as a Master Machanic.

Survivors include his wife, Verdie Bennett of Gamerco; sons, Kareem “Kory” Bennett of Gamerco, Kyerin “Sonny” Bennett of Gamerco; daughters, Karmen “Kandi” Bennett of Gamerco, Karneel “Kiki” Bennett of Gamerco; parents, James D. Bennett Sr., Marie E. Bennett of Mariano Lake; brothers, Lennard A. Bennett of Fort Defiance, Larry V. Bennett of Winnemucca, Nev., Lambert J. Bennett of Farmington, James D. Bennett Jr. of Fort Defiance; sisters, Leatricia K. Cowboy of Thoreau, Lucinda A. Baloo of Chambers, Lucretria K. Bennett of Mariano Lake, Lydia M. Bennett of Mariano Lake.

Pallbearers will be Russell Bennett, Melvin Lee, Victor Martinez, Lennard Bennett, Kory Bennett, Calvery Hogue.

Vickie Cisneros

GRANTS — Memorial Rosary and Mass for Vickie Martinez Cisneros, 45, will be 9 a.m., Saturday, March 28, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. The Very Rev. Alberto Avella will be the celebrant.

Survivors include her son, Oscar Cisneros of Grants; father, Serafin Martinez of Grants; mother, Marylou H. Fech of Thoreau; step-father, John Fech of Thoreau; brother, Tom Martinez of Grants.

Richard Ross

ST. MICHAELS — Gravesite services for Richard Hallan Ross, 87, will be Saturday, March 28, at Community Cemetery, St. Michaels. The Rev. Milton Shirelson will officiate. Burial will be in Community Cemetery, St. Michaels.

Ross died March 23, 2009, in St. Michaels. He was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Inscription House, Ariz., into the Edge Water People Clan for the Mexican People Clan.

Ross attended school in Richfield, Utah. He worked briefly for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and worked most of his life as an artist. He moved back to the Navajo reservation in 1990 and lived in St. Michaels until his death.

Ross will be remembered as the elderly man pushing his cart between Window Rock and St. Michaels.

Ross was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Ross, Emily Sombero; brothers, Harrison Ross, Harry Ross, Albert Ross Sr., Johnny Ross.

Pallbearers will be Lenny B. Ross, Leland E. Ross, Earl C. Ross, Lynn Ross, Aaron Ross, Eric Ross.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Michaels Chapter House, following services.

John Wilson

CHICHILTAH — Services are pending for John Albert Wilson, 77.

Wilson died Thursday, March 26, 2009, in Gallup. He was born Feb. 28, 1932, in Chichiltah, into the Red Bottom People Clan for the Mexican People Clan.

A gathering for relatives and friends will be 6 p.m., tonight, March 27, at Chichiltah Chapter.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

RED ROCK — The family received relatives and friends at family gathering place, 2 miles south of Gallup, Hwy. 602, Ida Nelson’s residence, following services.
