Leonard Jesus

NAVAJO — Funeral services for Leonard Jesus, 21, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, at the Potter’s house, Fort Defiance. The Rev. Artie Aragon will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, White Clay, Ariz.

Jesus died April 8, 2009, in Navajo. He was born May 4, 1987, in Fort Defiance, into the Near the Water People Clan for the Salt People Clan.

Jesus attended Rough Rock High School and worked with Ron Arnold’s Construction. He liked horseback riding.

Survivors include his parents, David and Laverne Charley; brother, Lionel Jesus; sisters, Lorencita Marshall, Taabia Tania Cly; grandmother, Louise Bia.

The family will receive relatives and friends at House #34 Poplar Ave., following services.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Ernest Manuelito Sr.

GALLUP — Funeral services for Ernest Charles Manuelito Sr., 57, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, at Christian Reformed CRC, Church, Rehoboth. Burial will be in Tohatchi Cemetery, Tohatchi. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., tonight, April 13.

Manuelito died April 10, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born Feb. 17, 1952, in Gallup, into the Salt People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Manuelito was a proud and loving father and grandfather. He was a radio DJ, chief engineer, and rodeo/sports announcer. Manuelito receive a BoJack Sports award for announcer of the year in 1996. He was an NNRCA Gold Card member and announced the Superbowl XXX game and Raiders game.

Survivors include his wife, Angelina Manuelito of Gallup; sons, Patrick Manuelito of Albuquerque, Anthony Manuelito of Gallup, Ernest Manuelito of Gallup, Blaine Manuelito of Gallup, Warren Manuelito of Gallup; daughters, Evelynda Bedonie of Farmington, Marynita Manuelito of Farmington, Kimberly Manuelito of Farmington, Heather Manuelito of Gallup, Amy Lynn Manuelito of Farmington, Shaundeen Manuelito of Gallup; brothers, Ben Thomas Jr. of Tohatchi, Jerry Manuelito of Yahtahey, Conrad Thomas of Farmington, Elmer Manuelito of Gallup; sisters, Kathy Standingrock of Farmington, Edith Whiterow of Farmington, Alberta Manuelito Bennett of Shiprock, Andrea Curley of North Carolina, Pearl Morgan of Farmington, Charlotte Thomas of Gallup, Brenda Buffalo of Gallup, Jackie Young of Bloomfield, Colo.; 10 grandchildren.

Manuelito was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Manuelito, Ben Thomas Sr.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Badonie, Johnathan Bennett, Conrad Thomas, Jerome Manuelito, Gilbert Manuelito, Bernard Begay.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Tohatchi Chapter House following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Correction for Timothy Shortey

KLAGETOH — Funeral services for Timothy V. Shortey, 47, were 10 a.m., today, April 13, at St. Anne’s Catholic Mission, Klagetoh. Brother John Hotstream, SC, officiated. Burial was in Community Cemetery, Klagetoh. Visitation was 9 a.m., one hour prior to services, at St. Anne’s Catholic Mission.
