Deaths

Nasewood Dennison

TOHATCHI — Funeral services for Nasewood Gerald Dennison, 68, were 10 a.m., today, April 14, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. John Mittelstadt, OFM, officiated. Burial was in Tohatchi Community Cemetery. A rosary will be 7 p.m., April 13, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Dennison died April 9, 2009, in Gallup. He was born Dec. 4, 1940, in Rural Tohatchi, into the Salt People Clan for the Folded Arms People Clan.

Dennison attended school in Riverside, Calif. He was a certified heavy equipment operator in Annadarko, Okla., and worked with Navajo Forest Product Industry, Navajo and AMCO Coal Co. in Sundance.

Survivors include his son, Haswwood Gerald Dennison; daughter, Sandra Lorann Dennison; brother, Glenn Dennison; one grandchild.

Dennison was preceded in death by his parents, John Dennison, Carrie Beyal Dennison.

Pallbearers will be Richard Badonie, Olson Badonie, Benson Badonie, Ray Mitchell, Butler Calavaza, Regis Benally.

The family received relatives and friends at Reed/Bamboo Springs, Buffalo Springs, N.M., following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Leonardo Jesus

NAVAJO — Funeral services for Leonardo Jesus, 21, were 10 a.m., today, April 14, at the Potter’s house, Fort Defiance. The Rev. Artie Aragon officiated. Burial was in family plot, White Clay, Ariz.

Jesus died April 8, 2009, in Navajo. He was born May 4, 1987, in Fort Defiance, into the Near the Water People Clan for the Salt People Clan.

Jesus attended Rough Rock High School and worked with Ron Arnold’s Construction. He liked horseback riding.

Survivors include his parents, David and Laverne Charley; brother, Lionel Jesus; sisters, Lorencita Marshall, Taabia Tania Cly; grandmother, Louise Bia.

The family will receive relatives and friends at House #34 Poplar Ave., following services.

Tse Bonito Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Donald Johns

WINDOW ROCK — Services are pending for Donald M. Johns, 70.

Johns died Friday, April 10, 2009, in Gallup. He was born June 20, 1938, in St. Michaels.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Julian Manuelito

SAWMILL — Services for Julian Manuelito, 43, were 10 a.m., today, April 14, at Mary Mother of Mankind Catholic Church, St. Michaels. The Rev. Gilbert Schmmedier, OFM, officiated. Burial was in family plot, Buell Park Sawmill.

Manuelito died April 10, 2009, in Phoenix. He was born Dec. 27, 1965, in Monument Valley, Utah, into the Towering House People Clan for the Mountain Cove People Clan.

Manuelito graduated from Window Rock High School in 1984. He attended Plaza Three Modeling School in Phoenix and was an AIDS Activist and Educator who spoke publicly about his experience, living with HIV to promote HIV prevention and awareness, particularly focused toward the youth, in conjunction with Navajo Nation Division of Helth and the public school systems on the Navajo Nation.

Survivors include his mother, Marie A. Manuelito of Buell Park; brothers, Phillip Billiman of St. Michaels, Anthony Manuelito of Mesa, Dennis Manuelito Jr. of Oakland, Calif., Orlando Manuelito of Buell Park, Ariz., Cornelius Manuelito of Farmington; sisters, Velma Yazzie, Linda Kenny, both of Buell Park, Antoinette Short of Anadarko, Okla.

Manuelito was preceded in death by his brother, William; father, Dennis Sr.; grandparents, Zonnie Billiman, Gladys Manuelito, Sam Manuelito; sister, Lynette Manuelito.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Manuelito Jr., Lawrence John, Ryan Kenny, Alvin Kenny, Errol Valteau, Ortega Wauneka.

The family will received relatives and friends at Sawmill Chapter House, following services.

GALLUP — Survivors include his sisters, Sandra Curley of North Carolina, Edith Whitecrow of Farmington.
