Johnnie Chee

SUNDANCE — Funeral services for Johnnie H. Chee, 67, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 6, at Rollie Mortuary. The Rev. Bobby Boyd will officiate. Burial will be in Rehoboth.

Chee died June 2, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born March 8, 1942, in Pinehaven, into the Towering House People Clan for the Black Streak Wood People Clan.

Chee attended Wingate BIA school, LDS placement program in Price, Utah. He worked for the railroad, was a mechanic for Fuhs Auto, worked with Gallup McKinley County schools and was a silversmith. His hobbies included working around the community, watching western and war movies.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Chee of Sundance; sons, Richard Touchine, Brian Chee, Emerson Chee, all of Sundance; brothers, Jimmie D. Chee of Klagetoh, Phillip Chee of Sundance; eight grandchildren.

Chee was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Mary L. Chee; sisters, Ella Chee, Alice C. Hood; grandson, Maurice Touchine.

Pallbearers will be Brian Chee, Richard Touchine, Emerson Chee, Jimmie Chee, Irwin Touchine, Eddie Livingston.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Donna Chee residence, Sundance, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Leandro Salazar

GRANTS — Funeral Mass for Leandro Salazar, 90, will be 10 a.m., June 6, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park, with full military honors by the VFW of Post 3221. The Very Rev. Alberto Avella will be the celebrant. A rosary will be 7 p.m., tonight, June 5, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Salazar died June 3, 2009, in Grants. He was born July 2, 1918, in Bernalillo.

Salazar was a Veteran of World War II and a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, DAV, VFW, Legion of Mary, Third Order of St. Francis.

Survivors include his children, Pablo Jaure of Grants, Helen Arrendo of Sacramento, Calif., Mary Saavedra of Grants, Prudence Saavedra of Milan, Inez Manning of Grants, Nikki Salazar of Albuquerque, Dominguez children; 31 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Salazar was preceded in death by his wife, Ciprianita Salazar; wife, Eduvigen Salazar; son, Tony Jaure.

Pallbearers will be Larry Baca, Pat Dominguez Jr., Jerry Jaure, Timo Jaure, Joshua Baca, Jeremy Baca, Patrick Saavedra.

Ophelia Thinn

CHINLE — Services for Ophelia Rose Thinn, 40, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 6, at Jesus Christ of Ladder-day Saints Church, Chinle. Burial will be in family plot, Chinle. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.

Thinn died June 2, 2009, in Nazlini. She was born Jan. 20, 1969, in Fort Defiance, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Mexican People Clan.

Thinn attended Elementary School in Chinle, Placement School in Utah, completed school in Chinle, and S.I.P.I. Vocational Tech in Albuquerque. Her hobbies included rug weaving, helping those in need and being with children and friends.

Survivors include her sons, Harland J. Thinn, Orlando J. Thinn, Eric Thinn, Emerson Lynch Jr., all of Chinle; daughters, Christy Lynn Lynch, Shanel Amber Sisco, both of Chinle; mother, Christine R. Bitsoi of Chinle; brother, Gilbert Smith of Chinle; sisters, Sharon Bitsoi-Nelwood, Jacguline C. Smith, both of Chinle, Diana L. Palamares of Snowflake; one grandchild.

Thinn was preceded in death by her father, Tucsohn Smith; grandparents, Altse Desbah Bitsoi, Nashgalini Bitsoi; brother, Carlson Smith.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Sharon Bitsoi-Nelwood’s residence, 2.5 miles south of Nazlini Rd. coming from Chinle.
