Herbert Charley

LUPTON — Funeral services for Herbert Tom Charley, 59, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, at St. John the Evanglist Church, Houck, Ariz. The Rev. Cormac will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Lupton.

Charley died June 3, 2009, in Fort Defiance. He was born July 4, 1949, in Blue Water, into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Black Streak Wood People Clan.

Charley went to school at Intermountain Indian School. He was a veteran and a Pine School Board member. His hobbies included working on cars, helping others, listening to music, doing carpentry, and watching movies. He enjoyed visiting relatives and being with family.

Survivors include his sons, Harold Charley of Pine Dale, Brian Charley of Colorado Springs, Jason Charley of Flagstaff; daughters, Melissa Eskeets of Sanostee, Marcella Bileen of Teecshospos, Ariz.; father, Tom Charley of Lupton; brothers, Hermon Charley, Harold Charley, Hamilton Charley, all of Lupton; sisters, Jane C. Yazzie, Rebecca Yazzie, Marilyn Yazzie, Theresa Charley, Jeanette Benally; all of Lupton; 10 grandchildren.

Charley was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Charley; brother, Norman Charley; granddaughter, Tiffany Yazzie.

Pallbearers will be Cordell Charley, Harold Charley, Brian Charley, Ryan Wadsworth, Olsen Yazzie, Emerson Charley.

The family will met at Lupton Chapter House, 7:30 p.m., June 6.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Paul Guy Sr.

CHINLE — Funeral services for Paul Guy Sr., 85, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, at Chinle Catholic Church.

Guy died Friday, June 5, 2009, in Scottsdale. He was born into the Coyote Pass People Clan for the Water Flows Together People Clan.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Guy; children, Ophie Atsitty, Amelia MIke, Tonya Guy, Robert Guy, Paul Guy Jr., all of Chinle, Comelia Kinsel of Maricopa, Ariz., Lydia Yazzie of Pinon, Delbert Guy of Fort Defiance; sisters, Mary Ann Claw, Jean Begay of Chinle; 28 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

A family gathering will be 7 p.m., tonight, June 8, at Vern and Ophie Atsitty’s residence, 4 1/2 north of Chinle Bashas’.

Guy was preceded in death by his son,Gilbert Guy; parents, Notah and Elouise Draper; sisters, Janet Descheeny, Louise Begay; brothers, George Guy Sr., Charles Guy.

Harry Johnson

NENAHNEZAD — Funeral services for Harry L. Johnson, 93, were 10 a.m., today, June 8, at Open Bible Baptist Church. The Rev. Don Chitty officiated. Burial was in Memory Gardens, Farmington.

Johnson died June 4, 2009, in Farmington. He was born April 16, 1916, in Chinle, into the Near the Water People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Johnson attended Albuquerque Indian School then moved to Fruitland, while working for El Paso Gas Co. He enlisted into the Marine Corps. and he served his time during World War II. After being honorably discharged, Johnson moved back to Fruitland and begin his life as a farmer and raising a family.

Survivors include his sons, Morris V. Johnson, of Fruitland, Elliot Johnson of Shiprock, Jordan Johnson of Phoenix, Anthony Johnson of Phoenix; daughters, Eleanor M. Johnson of Fruitland, Ann Watson of Albuquerque; brother, Mike Johnson; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia G. Johnson; sons, Monroe Johnson, Jane Johnson, Elwayne Johnson, Baby boy Johnson.

Pallbearers were Anthony Johnson, Vincent Johnson, Greg Johnson, Micah Smith, Raymond, Rex Johnson.

Cope Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Yanabah Natonabah

FORT DEFIANCE — Funeral Mass for Yanabah R. Natonabah, 96, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Fort Defiance. The Rev. Gilbert Schneider, OFM, will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Red Lake. A rosary will be recited 6 p.m., tonight, June 8, at Rollie Mortuary.

Natonabah died June 5, 2009, in Fort Defiance.

She was born May 25, 1913, in Red Lake, into the Zuni People Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People clan.

Survivors include her son, Michael C. Natonabah of Page; daughters, Teresa Natonabah, Elvira Barnett, both of Fort Defiance; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Natonabah was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Natonabah; sons, Norman J. Thompson, Ronald V. Thompson; daughter, Mildren Thompson-Bark; grandson, Vernon C. Barnett.

Pallbearers will be Stanley Bark, Lyle Natonabah, Tristian Whitehair, Landrey Skeet, Clement Goodluck Jr., Charles Goodluck.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Dominic Hall, Fort Defiance, following serivces.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
