ALBUQUERQUE — Funeral Mass for Mary Isabel Turningbar Alderete, 59, were 9:30 a.m., today, June 11, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Burial was in Grants Memorial Park. The Very Rev. Alberto Avella officiated. A rosary was recited 9:30 a.m., today, June 11, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Alderete died June 7, 2009, in Albuquerque. She was born Sept. 13, 1949, in Sena, N.M.

Survivors include her children, Rene Swanberg of Albuquerque, Camille Melendez of Gallup; sisters, Patsy Lopez of Albuquerque, Toni Lucero of Grants, Lorraine Sandoval of Bluewater; brothers, Seferino Gallegos of Graham, Texas, Ruben Gallegos of Austin, Nev., Adelio Gallegos of Battle Mountain, Nev., George Gallegos of Grants, Adam Gallegos of Albuquerque; four grandchildren.

Alderete was preceded in death by her parents, Elisa Gallegos, Atancio Gallegos; husbands, Jerry Alderete, Joel Turningbear.

GALLUP — Services are pending for James W. Boyd Sr., 86.

Boyd died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, in Gallup. He was born April 8, 1923, in Albuquerque.

SHIPROCK — Funeral Services for Joe Cambridge, 54, will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, at Farmington Civic Center, 200 W. Arrington St., Farmington. Pastor Freddy Hall will officiate. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave., Farmington.

Cambridge died Saturday, June 6, 2009, in Farmington. He was born June 20, 1954 in Fort Defiance.

Glennabah Hardy

CRYSTAL — Services for Glennabah Hardy, 97, will be 10 a.m., June 12, at Catholic Church, St. Michaels. The Rev. Gilbert Schneider, OFM, will officiate. Burial will be in family land, Crystal.

Hardy died June 9, 2009, in Fort Defiance. She was born July 4, 1911, in Wildcat, into the Water’s Edge People Clan for the Mud People Clan.

Hardy was a homemaker, traditional well-known weaver, rancher, storyteller, cultural leader and treasure.

Survivors include her sons, Kee T. Hardy of Leuppe, Joe C. Hardy of Crystal, Raymond Hardy of Crystal; daughters, Irene Clark of Crystal, Marie Saltclah of Albuquerque, Fannie Thompson of Crystal, Mary H. Wilson of Crystal, Marlene Clark of St. Michaels; sister, Betty McCurtain; 38 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren.

Hardy was preceded in death by Johny Hardy Sr.; parents, Denbah Jumbo, Hashtlishnii Tsosi; sons Mike Hardy, Leroy Hardy, John Hardy Jr.; brothers, Tully Jumbo, Howard Jumbo, Billy Jumbo, David Jumbo, Paul Jumbo, Robert Jumbo; three grandchildren.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Crystal Chapter House 6 p.m., tonight, June 11. The family will meet at Clark’s residence, 4 1/2 miles NW of Crystal Chapter House, following services.

ST. MICHAELS — Memorial services for Richard E. Jacoby, 70, will be 1 p.m., Saturday, June 13, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup.

Jacoby died June 1, 2009, in St. Michaels. He was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Gallup.

Jacoby served in the Air Force. He worked for Xerox in Texas, Gallup, and through the Diné area for 36 years.

Survivors include his wife, Leeann C. Jacoby; sons, Frank (Kip) D. Thomson of Boise, Idaho; daughters, Tanya Mallinson of Sherman, Texas, Kim Purkey of Divide, Colo., Nicki Wasdin of Pensacola, Flor.; sisters, Sharon Fort of Fence Lake, Jean Travis of Los Lunas.

Jacoby was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Dorothy Jacoby.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Jacoby Home, 41A Mercedes Dr., St. Michaels, following services.

Gene Lewis

GALLUP — Memorial services for Gene Lewis, 85, will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 12, at Gallup Methodist Church. Layloni Drake will officiate.
Lewis died June 8, 2009. He was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Enid, Okla.

Lewis lived in Gallup since 1951. He founded Lewis Brothers Plumbing and Heating in 1961, and was a lifetime member of the Lion’s Club, Elks International, Chamber of Commerce, YEI’s, Red Rock Ramblers, and Director of Sunwest Bank.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Lee Lewis of Gallup; son, Glen Lewis of Gallup; daughters, Sharon Ann Hawkins of Gallup, Peggy Lewis-Alumbaugh, Los Lunas; brothers, Ben R. Lewis, Bill J. Lewis, both of Gallup, Bob L. Lewis of Tucson, Jim D. Lewis of Farmington, Barney C. Lewis of Memphis, Tenn.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Meda Lewis; brother, Kenneth W. Lewis, Wayne Lewis.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Gallup Methodist Church, following services.

Leanndra Nez

COYOTE CANYON — Funeral services for Leanndra Dawn Nez, 16, will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 12, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, Gallup. President Herman Plummer Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup. Visitation will be 9-9:45 a.m., at Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints Stake Center.
Nez died June 6, 2009, in Albuquerque. She was born Sept. 7, 1992, in Gallup.

Nez was an 8th grader at Gallup Middle School. She loved to travel, socialize, listen to music and collect monkeys. She enjoyed life.

Survivors include her parents, Yolanda Sandoval, Dorey A. Nez of Coyote Canyon; brother, Dordale A. Nez of Albuquerque; sister, Laya S. Brandon of San Antonio, Texas; grandparents, James and Pauline Sandoval of Coyote Canyon.

Nez was preceded in death by her brother, Darnell A. Nez; grandparents, Harry and Mae Fern Etsitty, Bessie Silago; great-grandfather, William Silago.

Pallbearers will be Tyrell J. Etsitty, Jerome Plummer, Ashtin Tsosie, Cory Atkins, Darin Kalleco, Dordale A. Nez.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, Gallup, following services.

George Pooley

GREASEWOOD — Services for George Eugene Pooley, 58, will be 10 a.m., June 8, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, Lower Greasewood. President Vincent Farr will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Lower Greasewood.
Pooley died June 3, 2009, in Lower Greasewood.

He was born March 2, 1951, in Joseph City, into the Cliff Dwelling People Clan for the Hopi Tribe People Clan.

Survivors include his son, George “Hat” Pooley of BC, Canada; daugthers, Jayna Pooley, Jennifer Pooley, both of B.C., Canada; brothers, Raymond Pooley of Tuba City, Albert Pooley of Mesa, Leroy Pooley of Avondale; sisters, Grace Pooley of Greasewood, Esther Stant of Holbrook, Vivian Luikart of Provo, Utah; three grandchildren.

Pooley was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Clara Pooley.

Pallbearers will be Hat Pooley, Dave Nordquist, Michael Pooley, Kawika Stant, Brandon Yazzie, Lee Pooley.

Jacqueline Rougemont-Gonzalez

MILAN — Services for Jacqueline Susette Rougemont-Gonzalez, 28, will be 11 a.m., Friday, June 12, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, Grants. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. Visitation will be 12-7 p.m., today, June 11, at Compassion Mortuary and 10-11 a.m., Friday, June 12, at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church.

Gonzalez died June 8, 2009, in Milan. She was born Feb. 17, 1981, in Grants.

Gonzalez graduated from Grants High School and New Mexico State University. She was employed at Mount Taylor Elementary as a third grade teacher.

Survivors include her husband, Jose Gonzalez of Milan; children, Jacenta Gonzalez of Milan, Ronald Torrez of Milan, Rena Torrez of Milan, Alyna Gonzalez of Las Cruces, Aytza Gonzalez of Las Cruces; parents, Bobby Rougemont of Milan, Cathy Rougemont of Milan; sisters, Bobbie Jo Romero of Phoenix, Veronica Rougemont of Albuquerque, Veronica VanCleef-Keyser of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, TJ VanCleef of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandparents, Norene Sanders of Milan, Della and Cleofes Rougemont of Grants, Louisa and Sam Martinez of Bosque.

Gonzalez was preceded in death by her grandfather, Homer Sanders; brother, Robert Rougemont; mother, Rena S. Rougemont.
