Nelson Begay Sr.

IYANBITO — Services for Nelson L. Begay Sr., 69, will be announced at a later date.

Begay died July 8, 2009 in Gallup. He was born Sept. 8, 1939 in Manuelito.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Sophia Claw

NAZLINI, Ariz. — Services for Sophia Eleanor Claw, 44, will be at 10 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2009, at Our Lady of Fatima in Chinle. The Rev. Blane Grein, OFM, will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot in Three Turkey, Ariz.

Claw died July 6, 2009, in Nazlini. She was born Aug. 12, 1965, in Ganado, Ariz., into the Tangle People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Claw graduated from Many Farms High School, business college in Mesa, Ariz., Parks college in Albuquerque, Diné College and received an Associate of arts Degree. She was employed with the Bernalillo county Sheriff’s Department, Nazlini Community School. Her hobbies were weaving, doing ranch work and spending time with her family and children.

Survivors include her husband Leroy Shorty; sons Sanford Shorty, Aaron Shorty, Bryant Shorty, Sheldon Shorty and Cody Shorty, all of Nazlini; brothers Leonard Claw of Whiteriver, Ariz.; sisters Dorothy Salabie, Hazel Gorman, Calandra Davis, all of Chinle, Ariz., Ida Farmer of Stringtown, Okla., Ruthis Gachupin of Three Turkey, Ariz., Geraldine Gonnie of Three Turkey, Ariz., and Bernice Cardy of Dilkon, Ariz.

Claw was preceded in death by her grandmother Hanebah Tilden; father Charlie W. Claw; mother Pauline M. Claw; brother Milton W. Claw.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the family residence in Three Turkey.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Gregory

CHURCHROCK — Services for Helen James Gregory, 49, will be at 10 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2009, at Rollie Mortuary Palm Chapel in Gallup. Burial will follow at the Gallup City Cemetery.

Gregory died July 4, 2009, in Albuquerque. She was born Dec. 31, 1959, in Gallup into the Water Edge People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Gregory liked to cook, hike, read, go to family gatherings and do arts and crafts. She enjoyed watching her children grow up.

Survivors include her husband Christopher Gregory of Gallup; sons, Nathan James Christensen of Glendale, Ariz., Jeremy Mitchell Christensen of Gallup; brother Bennie James; sisters Rita James, Ella Marshall, Linda James, Evelyn Teengar.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother Katherian James; parents Katherine James and Frank James; and three grandchildren.

The family will meet at 44B Superman Canyon Road after services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Jimmie Largo

WHITE CONE, Ariz. — Graveside services for Jimmie Roland Largo, 72, were today July 9, 2009, at 9 a.m., at the family plot in White Cone, Ariz.  The Rev. Al Campson will officiate.

Largo died July 5, 2009, in White Cone, Arizona. He was born May 22, 1937 into the Towering House People Clan for the Blackstreak People Clan.

Largo lived, worked and raised his family in Salt Lake City, Utah from 1955 to 1995.  He retired from Kennecott Copper Mine after 29 years and Royal Tire Center for 39 years.  He moved to White Cone, Ariz., where he had a small tire shop and enjoyed his grandchildren, taking care of livestock and running and placing in local 5K and 8K’s.

Survivors include his wife, Stella M. Largo; daughters, Marilyn Lorenc of Joseph City, Darlene Pulver of Salt Lake City, Utah; son Roland J.  Largo of West Jordan, Utah;  five grandchildren, mother, Janice Nez; brothers and sisters; Else Delgarito, Evelyn Largo, Hoskie R. Largo and Nancy Nez.

Jimmie is preceded in death by his father, Frank Largo; brothers Danny Largo, Ray Nez, Sam Largo; sister Carol Nez.

Tom Lee

PINEHAVEN, N.M. — Services for Tom Lee, 96, will be at 10 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2009, at Cope Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Eugene Bowski will officiate. Burial will be in the Pinehaven family plot.

Lee died July 4 in Piniehaven. He was born Dec. 26, 1912, in Pinehaven into the Near the Mountain, Towering House People Clan for the Black Streak People Clan.

Lee was a lifetime rancher and stock contractor. He retired from the railroad as a laborer and worked in various places such as the coal mines and doing carpentry. He was a lifetime Native American Church member and a chapter official. His hobbies included horseback riding and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his sister Sadie Yazzie and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rosie Tennison Lee; daughter Evelyn Lee Thomas; sons Jimmy Lee, Nelson Lee, David S. Lee.

Pallbearers will be Francis Pinto, Andy Thomas, Felix Nelson, Bobby Willie, Benjamin Thomas, Lorenzo Silas.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Breadsprings Chapter after services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
