Meliano Candelaria

GALLUP — Funeral services for Meliano P. (Mills) Candelaria, 64, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, at Rollie Mortuary. The Rev. Eduardo (Lalo) Espinosa Chacon will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Candelaria died Aug. 6, 2009, in Gallup. He was born Nov. 12, 1944, in Gallup.

Candelaria worked for the City of Gallup and retired after 25 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Priscilia Candelaria; son, William McKinley III; daughters, Anjanette McKinley of Gallup, Chanté McKinley of Gallup; brother, Leandro Candelaria of Blanco; sister, Dora Baca of Albuquerque, Carmelita Candelaria of Phoenix; two grandchildren.

Candelaria was preceded in death by his parents, Leandro Candelaria, Feliz Sandoval Candelaria; sisters, Lola Esparza, Marie O’Keefe, Joann Nunley; brother, Steve Candelaria.

Pallbearers will be Godfrey Ramirez, Jim Loring, Ivan Pena, Bobby Candelaria, Vince Alonzo, Lonny Martinez.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Virgie’s Restaurant following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Rose Johnson

MANUELITO — Funeral Mass for Rose B. Johnson, 62, were 10 a.m., today, Aug. 7, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Gallup. The Rev. Lawrence J. O’Keefe officiated. Burial was in Gallup City Cemetery, Gallup. Visitation was 9 a.m., one hour prior to service. A rosary was recited 9 a.m., one hour prior to service.

Johnson died July 31, 2009, in Santa Fe. She was born Jan. 8, 1947, in Sandsprings, into the Folded Arms People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Johnson was a housewife, loved to be with family, friends and relatives. She use to do beadwork and loved to sew and make blouses and skirts. She was a member of the Catholic Church and Native American Church.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Johnson of Gallup; sons, Freddie Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif., Ronald Johnson of Gallup, Edward Johnson of Vanderwagon; daughter, Sharon Thomas of Gallup; sister, Mae B. Jackson of Manuelito; seven grandchildren.

Johnson was preceded in death by her son, Arthur Bahe; daughters, Shirley Johnson, Gloria Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Johnson, Edward Johnson, Tony Bahe, Telbe Thomas, Jeremiah Bahe and Larry Mike.

The family will receive relatives and friends at KC Hall, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
