McArthur Cadman Sr.

MEXICAN SPRINGS — Funeral services for McArthur Cadman Sr., 66, were 10 a.m., today, Sept. 9, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. Burial was in Lone Pine Cemetery, Mexican Springs.

Cadman died Sept. 4, 2009, in Gallup. He was born Oct. 28, 1942, in Mexican Springs, into the Salt People Clan for the Running Water People Clan.

Cadman was a silversmith, hunter and provider. He also liked to ride horses.

Survivors include his common law wife, Caroline Cadman of Sheepsprings; son, McArthur Cadman Jr. of Crownpoint; daughter, Ericka Rose Cadman Vargas of Salt Lake City, Utah; step-daughter, Valerie Darwin of Farmington; mother, Rose Wauneka; brother, Harrison Cadman of Mexican Springs.

Cadman was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Cadman, Gladys John.

Pallbearers will be McArthur Cadman Jr., Oscar Vargas, Fernando Wilson, Kendrick Jim, Johnny Wilson, Therman Bistsie.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Mexican Springs Chapter House, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Janet Farley

GRANTS — Services for Janet L. Farley, 71, will be 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 11, at Grace Baptist Church, Milan. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. The Rev. Dale Thatcher will officiate.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, at Grace Baptist Church, Milan.

Farley died Sept. 4, 2009, in Phoenix. She was born Oct. 2, 1937, in Pincewick, W.V.

Farley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She married on Oct. 6, 1956, and lived in Grants. She was a manager of the Fallout Shelter in the 1960s, and was a member of the Grants Women’s Bowling League, Grants Ladies Golf Association, Grants Chamber of Commerce, Arts Coalition, Wamies and Grants Mining Museum.

Survivors include her husband, Jack E. Farley Sr. of Sun City; sons, Jack E. Farley Jr., of Albuquerque, Terry L. Farley of Grants, G. Wayne Farley of Grants; sister, Alice Rowles of West Virginia; brother, Jim Mitchem of Los Lunas; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Farley was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Mitchem and Edria Clark Mitchem; sisters, Virgie Sincel, Pauline Coah, June Warmer; brothers, Alfred Crews, Andrew Crews, Donald Mitchem, Martin Mitchem, Garnet Mitchem.

Pallbearers will be Terry Kenneth Brown, Marc Brown, Chris Otero, Kevin Farley, Adrian Farley, Trenton Moore.

Daniel Gomez

ALBUQUERQUE — Visitation for Daniel “Danny” R. Gomez, 74, was 1-3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 6, at Gabaldon Memorial Chapel. Final Visitation will be 9-9:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, at Santuario de San Martin Catholic Church, 8301 Camino San Martin SW. A rosary will be recited 9:30 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 11, at Santa Fe National Cemetery with military honors.

Gomez died Sept. 3, 2009. He was born in Gallup.

Gomez was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam Era and retired after 24 years of service as a Chief Petty Officer in 1977. He was a culinary arts instructor at the Crownpoint Institute of Technology and at the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, before retiring in 2003. Gomez was a board member of IFSEA, and was named Chef of the year two years in a row from the American Chef Federation.

Survivors include his wife, Michiko; daughters, Dannilynn Winter, Anna Marie Sherman; son, Fred Gonzalez; sisters, Corrine Andler; seven grandchildren.

Gomez was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Gomez, Annie Ross; sister, Geraldine Espinosa; brothers, Richard Gomez, Arthur Gomez, Leo Gomez; one grandson.

Ronnie Mowrer

GALLUP — Funeral services for Ronnie Jay Mowrer “Big Foot”, 71, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, at Rollie Mortuary, Gallup. Bishop Ruy Mowrer will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be 9 a.m., Sept. 10, at Rollie Mortuary.

Mowrer died Sept. 6, 2009, in Gallup. He was born April 13, 1938, in Ramah.

Mowrer graduated from Gallup High School and enlisted and served 4 years in the Navy and 2 years in the reserve. He retired from PNM Coal Mine after 39 years.

Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Mowrer; sons, Roy Jay Mowrer; daughters, Regina Kay Taylor, Carrie Lynn Goodwin; brothers, Allen Mowrer, Gerald Mowrer, Douglas Mowrer; two grandchildren.

Mowrer was preceded in death by his brother, Glen Mowrer; parents, Clarence and Lucille Mowrer.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Kyle Todik’qzhi

TEEC NOS POS — Funeral Mass for Kyle D. Todik’qzhi “Elvis Saltwater”, 51, will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Shiprock. Viewing will be 4- 7 p.m., today, Sept.r 9, at Desert View Funeral Home Chapel, Shiprock. Burial will be at Shiprock cemetery.

Todik’qzhi died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born April 29, 1958, into the Red House People Clan for the Yucca Fruit Strung Out In a Line People Clan.

Todik'qzhi was a lovable, kind and generous person, who enjoyed being active in rodeo events, caring for animals, dancing to country music, and working as a nurse. He graduated from Del Norte High School in 1977. He then attended Fort Lewis College for a Liberal Arts Degree.  His professional nursing career began at the Rochester School of Nursing where he earned his LPN. He received his RN from San Juan College and was finishing his Bachelor of Science in nursing from UNM. He worked and traveled for DaVita Dialysis for 21 years and was working in the emergency room at Four Corners Regional Hospital in Red Mesa. For the past several years, he was an active member serving as an officer of the local rodeo associations: from 2006-2007 with Navajo Nation Rodeo Cowboy Association as the calf roper director and from 2007-2009 with the Four Corners Rodeo Association as the secretary-treasurer. He met many well-known Professional Rodeo Circuit participants. He also had a collection of mementos of country singers whom he had met, and he had photos taken with them. 

Survivors include his sisters, Lorraine Saltwater of Teec Nos Pos, Ernestine Saltwater of Teec Nos Pos, Eleanor Oliver of Rochester, N.Y., Lula Brink of Montrose, Colo.; brother, Irvin of Shiprock.

Todik’qzhi was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Begay Saltwater, Ernest Saltwater; sister, Rena Saltwater; brothers, Alvin Saltwater, Harold Saltwater.

Pallbearers will be Brent Slowman, Robert Slowman, Sherwin Clah, Erwin Saltwater, Saki Saltwater, Marcell Yazzie.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Lorraine and Ernestine Saltwater's residence, in Teec Nos Pos, following services.

Desert View Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
