Sister Marguerite Bartz

NAVAJO — Funeral Mass for Sister Marguerite Bartz, 64, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Gallup. The Rev. Bishop James Wall will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michaels Sister’s Cemetery. A rosary was recited 7 p.m., Nov. 5, at St. Berard Church, Navajo, and 7 p.m., tonight, Nov. 6, at St. Michaels Indian School Student Chapel.

Sister Bartz died Nov. 1, 2009, in Navajo. She was born July 31, 1945, in Plymouth, Wis.
Sister Bartz received her B.A. from Xavier University of New Orleans and M.R.E from Loyola University. She was a member of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament and was pastoral minister at St. Berard Catholic Church, Navajo. She was also a member of the St. Michael Indian School Board of Directors, Cursillo Secretariat, Board of Builders of the New Earth. Sister Bartz was a gifted women.

Survivors include her mother, Barbara Bartz of Hillister, Texas; brothers, Frederick C. Bartz of Lumberton, Texas, Timothy J. Bartz of Tacoma, Wash., Daniel Bartz of Naugatuck, Conn., Anthony Bartz of Blue Springs, Mo., Peter Bartz of Kansas City, Mo., Jonathan Bartz of Nederland, Texas; sister, Kathie Bartz of Hillister, Texas.

Sister Bartz was preceded in death by her father, Carl H. Bartz.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Michaels Indian School, following services.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Michaels Indian School Scholarship Fund.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Johnson

PEORIA — Services for Evelyn Rae Bradford Johnson, 72, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, Peoria, Ariz. Visitation will be 9 a.m.

Johnson died Oct. 31, 2009, in Peoria. She was born July 2, 1937, Phoenix.

Johnson spent her youth following her father around Tovrea Mansion, Stockyard and Elizabeth Arden’s Main Chance Health Resort on Camelback Mountain. She marched with the High School Marching Band in the 1st Annual Parada Del Sol Parade. She graduated from Scottsdale High School and attended Arizona State College.

She was a member of the 1st Graduating Class of Arizona State University with a Bachelors Degree in Foods, Nutrition & Dietetics. She served her internship at the old St. Luke’s Hospital where she received her registration with the American Dietetic Association. Johnson retired from the Maricopa County Health Department in 2002. She served in many capacities including Relief Society, Young Women, and Compassionate Service Leader.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn L. Johnson of Peoria; daughter, Glenna Small of New Mexico; sons, StevenJohnson of California, Mark Johnson of Arizona, Brian Johnson of Colorado; sisters, Nancy Jean Robertson of Arizona, Barbara Ann Seaman of Washington; 19 grandchildren.

Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice James and Violet Lee Bradford.

Ben McLain

ALBUQUERQUE — Graveside services for Ben J. McLain, 87, will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
McLain died Tuesday, November 3, 2009. 

Survivors include his wife, Helen McLain of Albuquerque; sons, Tim McLain of Belen, Steve McLain of Dallas, Texas; step-children, Bobbie Allen of Gallup, Jack Shepherd of Glendale, Charlie Shepherd of Medford, Oge.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

McLain was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee McLain. 

Lillian Morehouse

ALBUQUERQUE — Services for Lillian E. Morehouse, 83, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Gallup. The Rev. Patrick will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. A rosary will be recited 9:30 a.m., Nov. 7.

Morehouse died Oct. 24, 2009, in Albuquerque. She was born May 29, 1926, in Gallup.

Morehouse graduated from Gallup High School. After graduation she moved to Albuquerque where she attended business school. She retired in 1988 and enjoyed traveling, square dancing and fishing.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her daughters, Marlene Frederick, Lanell Anderson, both of Albuquerque; four grandchildren.

Morehouse was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Morehouse; parents, Joseph and Dominca Cresto; brothers, Joseph Cresto, Pete Cresto.

Barbara Nez

CROWNPOINT — Graveside services for Barbara Jo Hannah Nez, 39, will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at family plot, Standing Rock. Steve Funston will officiate.

Nez died Oct. 27, 2009, in Albuquerque. She was born Jan. 2, 1970, in Crownpoint, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Red House People Clan.

Nez graduated from Crownpoint High School. She received her Associates of Applied Degree in Computer from Navajo Technical College (formerly CIT) and attended UNM-Gallup branch for Human Services.

Survivors include her sons, Bryan N. Tom, Kyle T. Tom, Tyler C. Hannah, Levi V. Lilly, all of Crownpoint; daughters, Danielle S. Tom, Santana M. Tom, both of Crownpoint; parents, Raymond Hannah of Standing Rock, Irene Silago of Crownpoint; brother, William R. Hannah of Crownpoint; sister, Joni R. Trujillo of Carrollton, Texas; three grandchildren.

Nez was preceded in death by her grandparents, Guy Silago Sr., Angela T. Silago, Frank Hannah Sr., Mary Hannah.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Standing Rock Chapter, following services.
