SHIPROCK — Funeral services are pending for Kee Cohoe, 77.

Cohoe died Saturday, May 28, 2011, in Shiprock. He was born Oct. 28, 1933, in Hidden Valley, Tocito, N.M.

Gwendolyn Gonzalez

CHINLE — Funeral services for Gwendolyn Faye Johnson-Gonzalez, 42, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, June 2, at Our Lady of Fatima, Chinle. The Rev. Donald Richardson will officiate. Burial will be in Chinle Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m., before services.

Johnson-Gonzalez died May 25, 2011, in Tucson. She was born March 25, 1969, in Crownpoint, into the Big Water People Clan for the Sage Brush Hill People Clan.

Johnson-Gonzalez graduated from Chinle High in 1991 and received her nurse aid certificate from Northland Pioneer College in Holbrook. She enjoyed country western music, reading, writing poems, cross stitching and needlepoint, family gatherings and helping everyone.

Survivors include her husband, Santos Gonzalez; daughters, Savannah Joe of Phoenix, Nicole Joe of Chinle, Samantha Joe of Phoenix, Cristel Gonzalez of Chinle, Gabriella Gonzalez of Chinle; mother, Patricia Mae James of Chinle; brothers, Lance Johnson of Chinle, Kevin Segay of Florence, Bo James of Chandler, Eddie Johnson of Crownpoint; sisters, Shawna Johnson of Tempe, Renita Segay of Tucson, Maria Bariones of Crownpoint; grandmother, Ruth Winney of Chinle; two grandchildren.

Johnson-Gonzalez was preceded in death by her father, Wilbert Johnson; grandparents, Frank and Irene James; one granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Lance Johnson, Bo James, James Nelson, Tilfrid Winney, Eddie Johnson, Jose Bejarano.

The family will meet at Ruth Winney’s residence, Redwood Housing #23, Chinle, following services.

Herman James

CHINLE — Funeral services for Herman Lee James, 63, were 10 a.m., today, June 1, at Chinle Catholic Church. The Rev. Richardson officiated. Burial was in Chinle Cemetery. Visitation was 10 a.m., today, June 1, in Chinle.

James died May 27, 2011, in Albuquerque. He was born Aug. 5, 1947, in Ganado, into the Big Water People Clan for the One Who Walks Around People Clan.

James graduated from Holbrook. He worked in Berwick, Pa. and Phoenix. He was a Vietnam veteran with 2 tours and 2 purple hearts. He worked in carpentry, framing, auto mechanic and electric technician. His hobbies included playing guitar.

Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Manuelito; sons, Cleatus James, Fabian E. James, Dinnzell James; step-son, Frederick Yazzie; brothers, Randy James, Charley James Jr., Marshall James, Francis James; sisters, Patricia James, Char James, Mary Ruth James-Goy; six grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Lee James, Irene Winney James; brother, Alvin Reed James; grandparents, Reed Winney Sr. and Mary I. Winney, Nadeesbah McCabe.

Pallbearers were Darren James, Elixander James, Lance Reed Johnson, Bo James, Daryl James, Albert Chester Jr.

The family received relatives and friends at Catholic Hall, following services.

Silver Creek Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Carl Quintana

GAMERCO — Services for Carl Quintana, 64, will be 1 p.m., Thursday, June 2, at Rollie Mortuary.

Quintana died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, in Yahtahey. He was born Oct. 7, 1946, in Tucumcari.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Elaine Thomas

ZUNI — Services are pending for Elaine Dodson Thomas, 66.

Thomas died Monday, May 30, 2011, in Zuni. She was born Nov. 5, 1944, in Tucumcari.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

 

Dwayne Thompson

TWIN LAKES — Funeral services for Dwayne Thompson, 45, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, June 2, at Rollie Mortuary Chapel, Gallup. Burial will be in Lone Pine Cemetery, Mexican Springs.

Thompson died May 2, 2011, in Tempe. He was born Sept. 30, 1965, in Gallup, into the One Who Walks Around People Clan for the Water Comes Together People Clan.

Thompson attended Tohatchi Elementary, Tohatchi Middle, Tohatchi High and Job Corps in Tahlequah, Okla. He was certified in heavy equipment and culinary arts. He was employed with construction, was an artist and was self employed. His hobbies included fishing, camping, hunting, painting, jewelry making, swimming, watching movies, meeting new people and listening to music.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Harry of Twin Lakes; sons, Scott Thompson of Farmington, Elias Harry of Twin Lakes; daughter, Shauna Thompson of Casa Grande; parents, Paul Thompson of Albuquerque, Gloria Haswood of Seattle, Wash.; brothers, Michael Thompson Sr. of Twin Lakes, Albert Avery of Shiprock, Frederick Thompson of Albuquerque; sister, Paula Thompson of Phoenix; two grandchildren.
Thompson was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Thompson; grandparents, Selina Thompson, Fred T. Thompson Sr., Elizabeth Haswood, Asa Haswood.

Pallbearers will be Michael Thompson, Fredrick Thompson, Albert Avery, Michael Thompson Jr., Elias Harry, Russell Boardman.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Twin Lakes Chapter House, following services.

TOHATCHI — Services for Priscilla J. Wilson, 64, will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 3, at Tohatchi Christian Reformed. The Rev. Larry Harvey will officiate. Burial will be in Tohatchi Community Cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Tohatchi Chapter House, following services.

A donation meeting will be 6 p.m., tonight, June 1, at Tohatchi Chapter House.
