Flora Chavez

CUBERO — Funeral Mass for Flora Chavez, 102, were 10 a.m., today, June 17, at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church, Cubero. The Very Re. Alberto Avella officiated. Burial was in Cubero Community Cemetery. A rosary was recited 7 p.m., June 16, at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church.

Chavez died June 13, 2011, in Grants. She was born Sept. 27, 1908, in Cubero.

Chavez was one of the first and last pioneer families of Cubero. She was a loving, giving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was proud of her family who looked at her as the matriarch of the family. Her manner of living was evidence of her deep faith in the Lord. She began everyday with praise and prayers.

Survivors include her sons, Eugene Chavez of Cubero, Frank Chavez Jr. of Cubero, Adelino Chavez of Cubero; daughters, Florinda Brito of Cubero, Velma Anderson of Laguna, Fellie Sarracino of Albuquerque; sister, Marian Palmas of California; 40 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; 42 great-great-grandchildren.
Chavez was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Chavez Sr.; parents, Nicholas Jaramillo, Jesusita Jaramillo; son, Jose Maria Chavez; sisters, Lita Baca, Bobbie Jaramillo; brothers, Max Jaramillo, Nabor Jaramillo, Liberato Jaramillo, Eddie Jaramillo.

Pallbearers were Bruce Chavez, Frances Padilla, Joey Sarracino, Mark Hampton, Zeke Bustos, Daniel Brito.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Alice Endito


THOREAU — Funeral services for Alice Chavez Endito, 75, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 18, at Thoreau Church of God. The Rev. Jacob Gonzales will officiate. Burial will be in Thoreau Community Cemetery.

Endito died June 11, 2011, in Albuquerque. She was born April 15, 1936, in Thoreau, into the Sleepy Rock People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Endito was a housewife and rancher. She was traditional and Christian. Her hobbies included sewing, silversmith, crocheting, cooking, ranching, gardening, double weaving and building trades.

Survivors include her sons, Edward James Endito of Thoreau, Earl James Endito of Thoreau, Emerson James Endito (Mark) Mcbride of Albuquerque, Paul James Endito of Thoreau, Eddie Endito Jr. of Thoreau; daughters, Virginia Endito Largo of Thoreau, Laverne Ann Endito of Thoreau, Priscilla Jan Endito of Thoreau; 35 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren.
Endito was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Endito Sr.; parents, Anna Chavez, Frank Charley; brothers, Alfred Chavez, Danny Chavez.
Pallbearers will be Earl Endito, Emerson Endito (Mark) Mcbride, Paul Endito, Brian Endito, Lance Williams, Robert Saunders Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Thoreau Chapter House, following services.

Terrance Jack

RED ROCK — Funeral services for Terrance Jack, 34, will be 10 a.m., June 18, at Red Rock Church of God. The Rev. Terry Goodin will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Rocky Point.

Jack died June 12, 2011, in Albuquerque. He was born Dec. 14, 1976, in Gallup, into the Towering Rock People Clan for the Mountain Cache People Clan.

Jack attended Wingate High School and Highland High School. He worked at Ute Mountain Casino. He played basketball for Wingate High. He enjoyed weight lifting, was a cross country runner and had many awards from playing basketball in high school. At the time of his death, he was attending National American University in Albuquerque.

Survivors include his parents, Robert Jack, Bessie Washee; step-father, Rogar Washee Sr.; brothers, Patrick Jack, Thaddues Jack, Lyle Jack, Kyle Jack; sister, Chavira Jack; grandmothers, Lillie Yazzie, Sally Jack.

Jack was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Yazzie, Charlie Jack.

Pallbearers will be Bob Martin Jr., Leon D. Martine, Ryan B. Martine, Nathan Lucas, Gregory Dodge, Ronnie Wilson.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the late Bah John’s residence, 7 miles south on highway 602, Blue Medicine Well Road, Red Rock.

Lester Marsing

BLUEWATER — Funeral services for Lester Gene Marsing, 79, were 10 a.m., Thursday, June 16, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Grants. Burial was in Pioneer Memorial Cemetery, Bluewater, with full military honors by the VFW Lodge 3221. Visitation was 9-10 a.m., Thursday, June 16.

Marsing died June 13, 2011, in Bluewater. He was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Green River, Utah.
Marsing was a veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Marsing of Bluewater; sons, Michael Marsing of Casa Grande, Ariz., Jody Marsing of Bluewater, Garet Marsing of Phoenix; daughters, Deborah Webber of Bayfield, Colo., Julie Lamance of Bluewater, Jennifer Welsch of Phoenix; brothers, Albert Marsing of Moab, Utah, Eddie Marsing of Farmington, Utah, Donna Duncan of Tooele, Utah, Verdella Davis of Green River, Utah; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Marsing was preceded in death by his parents, Harva Marsing, Rebecca Marsing; brothers, Harvey Marsing, Jay Marsing, Carles Marsing, Rex Marsing; sister, Barbara Hansen.
Pallbearers were Mike Marsing, Garet Marsing, Jody Marsing, Josh Marsing, Dustin Marsing, Jade Marsing, Travis Lamance, Tracey Lamance.

Sammie Spencer

GALLUP/SPENCER VALLEY — Funeral services for Sammie Tso Spencer, 65, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 18, at Rollie Mortuary. The Rev. Raymond Pablo Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Spencer died Saturday, June 11, 2011, in Gallup. He was born Oct. 15, 1945, in Rocky Point, into the Towering House People Clan for the Beneath the Mountain Cove People Clan.

Spencer attended school in Mentmore, Chilico Indian School, Okla., and Phoenix Indian School. He worked for various road construction. He loved to weld, work, ride his ATV with his grandchildren and be with family.

Survivors include his sons, Samson Spencer of Saunders, Keith Spencer of Prewitt; daughters, Marita Pinto of Twin Buttes, Roseolina Thomas of Mariano Lake, Geraildine Begay of Phoenix, Tammie Spencer of Grants, Sharon Spencer of Albuquerque; brother, Donald Spencer of Jones Ranch; sisters, Pearl Joe of Twin Buttes, Effie Garfield, Pansy Spencer, Anna Spencer, all of Gallup, Pearline Talley of Spencer Valley; 21 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Spencer was preceded in death by Larry T. Spencer, Kee Spencer Jr.; sister, Frannie Ashley.
Pallbearers will be Samson Spencer, Ronnie Martinez Jr., Emery Begay, Henderson Begay, Sheridan Tallwood, Spencer Yazzie.
