Jordon Chee

 

GALLUP — Funeral Services for Jordan Michelle Chee, 18, will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Gallup. The Rev. David Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in Rehoboth Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at Rollie Mortuary.

Chee died Aug. 13, 2011, in Albuquerque. She was born Feb. 28, 1993 in Gallup.

Chee had just finished 11th grade at Gallup High School. She was a Girl Scout and interested in art and learning Japanese. Chee was a volunteer at AWANA and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She survived hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis when she was 12 and died from side affects of aggressive leukemia.

Survivors include her guardians Diane Peters and Katie and Mike Peters; brothers Kyle Chee, Myles Chee, Michael Chee Jr. and Elijah Chee; sister Tia Chee; and grandmother Louise Peters. Chee was preceded in death by her father Michael Chee Sr.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Chee, Myles Chee, Michael Chee Jr., Elijah Chee, Tia Chee and Tyler Brown.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Gallup.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and Casa de Esperanza.

Maggie Tom

GALLUP — Funeral services for Maggie Tom, 66, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2011, at Rollie Mortuary. The Rev. Terry Goodin will officiate


Tom died Aug. 15, 2011, in Albuquerque. She was born Oct. 21, 1944, in Gallup into the Towering House People Clan born for the Meadow People Clan.

Tom attended Haskell Indian Institute in Lawrence, Kan. She was a homemaker and in 1997 she retired from El Rancho Hotel where she worked for many years as a housekeeper. Tom was a member of NAC. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, attending sports activities, watching movies, volunteering in her community, spending time with her grandchildren and helping the people she knew.

Survivors include her husband Bobby M. Tso; son Jeremiah Tom; brothers Bennie Tom, of Twin Buttes, Billy Spencer and Benjamin Spencer, of Uprooted Tree; Sisters Alice Largo, of Standing Rock, and Susie Tom, of Uprooted Tree; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by her father Navajo Tom; mother Ada S. Spencer; sisters Bessie T. Nez and Rosie Y. Begay; brother Tom Willie; and grandmother Naa Gleen Naabah Lee.


Pallbearers will be Ronald Spencer, Ray Tso, Myron Spencer, Jason Pine, Mittie Tso, Brandon Lee.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Uprooted Tree family residence.

Terry Barron

BLUEWATER — Family services for Terry Barron, 70, will be at Grants Memorial Park. A reception will be at noon on Friday, Aug. 19, at the home of Cickie and Lena.

Barron died Aug. 14, 2011, in Bluewater. She was born April 6, 1941, in Las Vegas, N.M.

Barron loved living life in the country and loved to cook, read and take care of her grandchildren and animals. She also loved her family and was loved by anyone who was able to meet her.

Survivors include her husband A.W. Barron Sr. of Bluewater; children Shirley Barron of San Rafael, Mary Allen of Grants, Dick Barron of Grants, John Barron of Grants, Calvin Barron of Grants, Howard Barron of Grants; sister Inda Cook of Tenn.; brother Johnny Rasco of Chico; and 14 grandchildren. Barron was preceded in death by her parents Dick Rasco and Amada Rasco; son Aaron Wesley Barron Jr. and daughter Sharon Kelly.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Helen S. Yazzie

VANDERWAGEN — Funeral services for Helen S. Yazzie, 77, will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at Rollie Mortuary. The Rev. Don Phoebus will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Vanderwagen.

Yazzie died on Aug. 13, 2011, in Gallup. She was born May 24, 1934, in Rocky Point into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Black Streak Forest People Clan.

Yazzie was a homemaker, rug weaver and sheepherder. She also participated in her church and was a revival member. Yazzie was also a member of Senior Citizen at the Bread Springs Chapter.

Survivors include her son Emerson Yazzie of Twin Buttes; daughters Angie Yazzie and Bernice Begay, both of Vanderwagen; brothers Billy Spencer and Benjamin Spencer, both of Up Rooted Tree; sisters Mary Bitah of Gallup, Annie Yazzie and Rose Ann Spencer, both of Rocky Point; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Yazzie was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Yazzie; sons Ronnie Tsosie, Donson Yazzie, Leonard Yazzie; Grandson Emerson Yazzie Jr.; sisters Maggie Chee, Juanita Neswood and Denise Skeet; brothers John Kee, John Yazzie, Kee Chee; parents John Spencer and Althaynibah Spencer and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Robert Yazzie, Ervinson Yazzie , Leanderson Yazzie, Randy Yazzie, Anderson Yazzie and Bernie Tsosie.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Ray and Angie Yazzie’s residence following the burial.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Woodrow Whitman Jr.

MESA, Ariz. — Funeral services for Woodrow Wilson Whitman Jr., 37, will be Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at the Tse’ Si Ani Baptist Church. The Rev. Ragin Hawthorne will officiate.

Whitman died Aug. 13, 2011, in Mesa, Ariz. He was born April 11, 1974, in Gallup into the Towering House People Clan for the One who Walks Around People Clan.

Survivors include his son Darren Charles Blusie; daughters Taneisha Lucie Whitman, Ariann Paige Whitman, Jhordan Chynal Whitman; parents Woodrow Wilson Whitman Sr. and Sylvia Begay Whitman; brothers Wyman Whitman and Weyli Whitman; sisters Wanona B. Whitman-Wheeler and Michelle Billy and grandparents Marie Bahe and Tom Begay. Whitman was preceded in death by his grandparents Julia Lasiloo and Wilson Whitman.

Pallbearers will be Julian Lasiloo, Shawn Baldwin, Davin Yazzie, Weylin Whitman, Anthony Moses and Adam Moses.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Tse’ Si Ani Chapter House in Lupton.
