Freddie Roanhorse

WINDOW ROCK — Funeral services for Freddie Peter Roanhorse, 52, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at the Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Ken Delaney will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery.

Roanhorse died Aug. 20, 2011, in Window Rock. He was born Feb. 9, 1959, in Ganado, Ariz., into the Coyote Pass People Clan for the Honeycomb People Clan.

Roanhorse graduated from Window Rock High School in 1979. He was employed with the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority as a master systems operator. Roanhorse served with the Marine Corps in San Diego. Roanhorse was also a carpenter and played in basketball tournaments in Arizona, Idaho and Wyoming.

Survivors include his wife Dorann Roanhorse, of Window Rock; sons Joe Smiley Roanhorse, of Mesa, Ariz. and Kenneth Peter Roanhorse, of Window Rock; daughters Heather Dawn Roanhorse, of Mesa, Ariz., and Tiffany Helen Roanhorse, of Window Rock; and one grandchild.

Roanhorse was preceded in death by his father Peter Roanhorse Jr.; mother Lucy Roanhorse and brother Kenneth Roanhorse.

Pallbearers will be Ethan Lincoln, Ouryn Billie, Mathew Greening, Brandon Fernando, Evaughan Ashley and Darrell Smiley.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Antonio Sanchez

GALLUP — A Funeral Mass for Antonio “Tony” Sanchez, 63, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at the Sacred Heart Cathedral. The Rev. Raul Kiran will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be at 1-4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Rollie Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

Sanchez died Aug. 23, 2011, in Albuquerque. He was born Oct. 18, 1947, in Gallup.

Sanchez graduated form Gallup High School. He retired from Gallup McKinley County School District. Sanchez opened the Sanchez Academy of Karate and was a martial arts instructor as a 10th Degree Black Belt. He was a Martial Arts Hall of Fame Recipient, had a doctorate of Martial Arts Philosophy, PhD from the University of Asian Martial Arts Studies. Sanchez was also a U.S.A. Boxing Instructor and New Mexico North American Indigenous Games Martial Arts Coach.

Survivors include his wife Lavern “Vern” Sanchez, of Sundance; sons Danny Sanchez, of Albuquerque, Jody Sanchez, of Gallup, Santana Sanchez, of Phoenix, and Lance Sanchez, of Albuquerque; daughters Megan Sanchez and Shannon Sanchez, both of Sundance; brothers Tommy Sanchez, Frank V. Sanchez, and Martin Sanchez and sisters Carmensita Sandoval, Anita Salcido, Frances Guillen, Rosarra Cuellar, Isabell Sandoval and Esther Martinez. Sanchez was preceded in death by his parents Jose De Jesus Sanchez and Lola Sanchez and brother Joe Sanchez.

Pallbearers will be Danny Sanchez, Jody Sanchez, Santana Sanchez, Lance Sanchez, Cody Yazzie and John Sherman.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the KC-Hall after the Services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
