Shonnie Ben
CHINLE, Ariz. — Funeral services for Shonnie Luther Ben, 39, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Del Muerto Presbyterian Church. The Rev. David Wagner will officiate. Burial will be in the community cemetery in Del Muerto, Ariz.
Ben died Aug. 27, 2011, in Chinle, Ariz. He was born Nov. 30, 1971, in Ganado, Ariz., into the Red Running into the Water People Clan for the Water Flows Together People Clan.
Ben attended St. Michael Special Education School from 1963 until 1990.
Survivors include his mother Hilda Johnson-Ben; brothers Francis Ben, Herman T. Begay Jr., and Therman Ben; sisters Esther Ben, Herberta Lopez and Davina A. Johnson; grandparent Guy Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his father Shonnie Ben; sister Linda Ben; grandparents Isabelle Wilson, and John and Ason Ben. Pallbearers will be Francis Ben, Herman T. Begay Jr., Therman Ben and Edward W. Diaz Jr.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Presbyterian Church Reception Hall in Del Muerto, Ariz.
Darrell J. Hoskie
RED ROCK — Funeral services for Darrell J. Hoskie, 32, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at the Gallup Church of God. Harry Begay will officiate.
Hoskie was born into the Living Arrow People Clan born for the Mexican People Clan.
Hoskie attended Skyview High School in Thornton, Colo., and the University of Phoenix in Phoenix.
Survivors include his parents Louise Hoskie and Aaron T. Martinez Sr.; brothers Nathaniel Hoskie, of Aurora, Colo., and Aaron J. Martinez Jr., of Red Rock; sister Jennifer J. Hoskie Shonie, of Thornton, Colo., and grandparents Nellie and Dan Hoskie.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Carole Knights
GALLUP — A memorial service for Carole Gwendolyn Cooper Knights, 69, will be at noon Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at Valley Baptist Church in Sanders, Ariz. The Rev. Paul Beasley will officiate. Burial will be at the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Dublin, Ga., at a later date.
Knights died Aug. 25, 2011, in Gallup. She was born Jan. 5, 1942, in Macon, Ga.
Survivors include her sons Marcus Forrester of Chambers, Ariz. and Micheal Forrester of Summerville, S.C.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence Greeton Cooper and Iva Windham Cooper, of Dublin, Ga.
Cope Memorial is in charge of local arrangements.
Danny Sandoval Sr.
GAMERCO — Funeral services for Danny Sandoval Sr., 83, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday Sept. 2, 2011, at Rollie Mortuary. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.
Sandoval died Aug. 29, 2011, in Gallup. He was born May 4, 1928, in Torreon into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Tangle People Clan.
Sandoval attended a boarding school in Crownpoint and was employed with the Southern Pacific Railroad, a chef for El Rancho Hotel, Shine Western Skies Hotel in Albuquerque, Virgie’s Restaurant and Gordo’s Cafe. He retired from Gordo’s Cafe in 1996. He enjoyed going to horse races, the state fair, and the casino, playing cards and bingo and watching football. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Annie B. Sandoval, of Gamerco; sons Danny Sandoval Jr., of Gamerco, and Samuel Sandoval, of Gallup; daughters Carol Sandoval and Judith Sandoval, both of Gamerco, and Christine Sandoval, of Gallup; sisters Elsie Sandoval, of Torreon, and Helen Dennison, of Tohatchi; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jesaito and Bahh Y. Sandoval; son Daniel Sandoval; daughter Connie Sandoval and granddaughter Racheal A. Sandoval.
Pallbearers will be Danny Sandoval Jr., Donovon Sandoval, Nathaniel Sandoval, Isaiah Sandoval, Johnathan Sandoval and Felix Begay.
The family will receive relatives and friends at 307 Summit in Gamerco following the services.
Andrea Slinkey
WINDOW ROCK — Funeral services for Andrea Slinkey, 47, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at the Fort Defiance Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Roger Davis will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery.
Slinkey died Aug. 29, 2011, in Albuquerque. She was born Feb. 16, 1964, in Ganado into the Mexican People Clan born for the Sleep Rock Clan.
Survivors include her husband Joe Slinkey; daughters Melanie Joy Fuller, Teresa LaRose Slinkey-Peshlakai and Colleen DeAnn Slinkey-McCoy; mother Alberta Arlington; brother Edmund Arlington; sisters Norma J. Watts, Veronica Tsosie, Kathy Scott and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Kentson Tom; grandmother Nora Smiley; aunts Winifred Roubideaux, Ella Mae Tom and Rosalyn Smiley.
Pallbearers will be Wesley White, Duane Bush, CPL Ben Stewart, Joaquin Shepard, Adrian Watts and Edmund Arlington.
The family will meet at Fort Defiance Presbyterian Church at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1.

Marge Tarro
GALLUP — Graveside services for Marge Tarro, 69, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup.
Tarro died Aug. 28, 2011. She was born May 15, 1921, in Socorro.
Tarro was a longtime resident of Gallup. She worked for Gallup Car Parts, Marshall's Texaco and Anthony Petronavich, CPA. She enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and the ocean, especially on Alaskan cruises. She also loved to fish. Tarro always said she had a beautiful family and loved her friends very much.
Survivors include her son G. Thomas Marsh, of Littleton, Colo.; daughter Sheila Tarro, of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Dean Tarro; son Donald Francis Marsh; sisters Eileen Garrison and Susan Komfala; brother Tom Komfala.

Ralph Teengar
VANDERWAGEN— Funeral services for Ralph Teengar, 57, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Rollie Mortuary. The Rev. Ronald Whitman will officiate. Burial will be on family land in Vanderwagen.
Teengar was born into the Saline Water People Clan.
Teengar attended Wingate High School and became a certified mechanic in Chicago. He worked at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a track man and was a lifelong silversmith. Teengar loved playing guitar and spending time with his “little cheiis,” grandsons.
Survivors include his wife Alta Teengar; son Rodcliffie Teengar, of Covington, Ky.; daughters Cynthia Teengar, of Vanderwagen, Michelle Galaviz, of Gallup, Shauna Marquis, of Covington, Ky.; parents Argye and Bessie Teengar, of Vanderwagen; brothers Alfred Teengar, Arlton Teengar, and Harry Teengar, all of Vanderwagen; sisters Marlene James, of Churchrock, and Marion Teengar, of Vanderwagen, and seven grandchildren. e was preceded in death by his son Gilpatrick “Pat” Teengar; brother Arthur Teengar and grandmother Annie Tennison.
Pallbearers will be Rod Teengar, Clifton Harper, Roman Harper, Leon Jones, Robert Galaviz, Victor Roanhorse and Jan-Michael Bob.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Jefferson Elementary School, 300 Mollica in Gallup, following the burial.
