CROWNPOINT — Services for Marjorie T. Dodge will be announced at a later date.
Dodge died Sept. 24, 2011, in Albuquerque. She was born June 5, 1941, in Gallup.
A family gathering will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at the Standing Rock Chapter.
Edith Loretto
NASCHITTI — A funeral mass for Edith Becenti Loretto, 72, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tohatchi. The Rev. Pio and Sherman Manuelito will officiate. Burial will be in Naschitti Community Cemetery. A rosary was recited Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011.
Loretto died Sept. 24, 2011, in Gallup. She was born Nov. 22, 1938, in Naschitti into the Towering House People Clan for the Sleeping Rock People Clan.
Loretto was a ranch hand and was well known for her horsemanship and riding ability. She enjoyed shearing her sheep, rodeos and horse racing. Loretto attended Toadlena Boarding School and graduated from Wingate High School in 1960. She attended Brownings Business College in Albuquerque from 1960 until 1961. Loretto worked for the Navajo Nation Accounts Receivable Section from 1965 until 2000, and she was a former Naschitti Chapter president, vice president and secretary treasurer. She was also part of the Chuska School Board from 1976 until 2000.
Survivors include her sons Virgil N. Loretto and Brian N. Loretto, both of Gallup; brothers Mike Becenti, of Gallup, Freddie Becenti and Jonah Becenti, of Naschitti, and James Becenti, of Lukachukai; sisters Ilene Becenti and Alta Peshlakai, both of Naschitti, Eva M. Yazzie, of Gallup, Maebah Morris, of Tohatchi, and Mabel Holyan, of Yatahey; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Nelson Loretto; parents Herman and Rose N. Becenti; brothers Frank Becenti, Ernest Becenti, John Becenti and Alfred Becenti.
Pallbearers will be Darrell O. Morris, Anthony Arviso, Isiah Yazzie, Christopher Loretto, Patrick Yazzie and Benjamin Skeet.
The family will receive relatives and friends at 6 p.m. at Naschitti Chapter House.
Bernice Spencer
COYOTE CANYON — Funeral services for Bernice Spencer, 37, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at Rollie Mortuary. David Lee will officiate. A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at Rollie Mortuary.
Spencer died Sept. 22, 2011, in Coyote Canyon. She was born Feb. 18, 1974, in Gallup into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Mountain Cove People Clan.
Spencer attended Gallup High School and received her diploma from the University of New Mexico-Gallup. She was employed as a grade setter with RE Monks construction and was previously employed with Weminuche Construction. Spencer was also a jewelry maker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She helped with many traditional ceremonies and was a loving person. Spencer loved to travel across the states and cooking.
Survivors include her sons Derek Yazzie; parents Leonard and Ella Spencer; brothers Corinthian M. Yazzie, Calvin Spencer, Ervin Spencer and sister Renee Yazzie. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Mike and Alice M. Yazzie and Sam Joe and Rachael Spencer.
Pallbearers will be Donald Spencer, Jerry Bahe, Donavan Martinez, Mike Yazzie, Aaron Yazzie and Alfredo Ramirez Jr.
The family wil receive relatives and friends 5 miles south of Coal Mine Road in Coyote Canyon.
