Annie Alonzo
RAMAH — Funeral services for Annie Alonzo, 86, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at Rollie Mortuary, Palm Chapel. Freddie Lee will officiate. Burial will be in Ramah City Cemetery.
Alonzo died Oct. 2, 2011, in Zuni. She was born Nov. 26, 1924, in El Morro into the Tangled People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.
Alonzo was a homemaker and attended Nazarene Church. She was a weaver and held various temporary jobs within the community. Alonzo would always joke around and everyone enjoyed her company.
Survivors include her daughter Esther M. Jose; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughters Lolita Alonzo and Irma Alonzo; mother Nate Alonzo and brothers Tom S. Alonzo and Fred Alonzo.
Pallbearers will be Tyren Hose, Alfonso Lee, Martin Alonzo, Philbert Alonzo, Samuel Alonzo Sr. and Kirwim Maria.
Jon Michael Chee
VANDERWAGEN — Funeral Services for Jon Michael Chee, 21, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at the Gallup Christian Church. Randy Bourn will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at Rollie Mortuary.
Chee died Sept. 30, 2011, in Cousins. He was born Nov. 20, 1989, in Grants into the Anglo People Clan for the Edgewater People Clan.
Chee graduated from Middle College at University of New Mexico-Gallup. He was employed at Pee Wee’s Kitchen. His favorite saying was, “The truth is everyone is going to hurt you, you just have to find the ones worth suffering for.”
Survivors include his parents Richard Chee and Donna Chee; brothers Robbie Slocum, of Vanderwagen; sisters Ashlee Sebring, of Tatum, Katie Slocum, of Vanderwagen, and Crystal Dunham, of Claremore, Okla. He was preceded in death by his mother Michelle Urbin and brother Richard “Buddy” Chee.
Pallbearers will be Sam Norton, James Norton, Robbie Slocum, Katie Slocum, Patrick Gonzales and Ashlee Sebring.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Gallup Christian Church.
Caroline Draper
CHINLE — Funeral services for Caroline Draper, 57, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at the Grace Fellowship Church. Thomas Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Chinle Community Cemetery.
Draper died Oct. 2, 2011, in Phoenix. She was born Oct. 6, 1953, in Ganado into the Honeycombed People Clan for the Water Flows Together People Clan.
Draper graduated from Chinle High School in 1972. She attended Northern Arizona University and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Masters Degree in Education in Special Education. She retired from the Bureau of Indian Education after 33 years of government service, was a teacher at Cottonwood Day School and at Chinle Boarding School. Draper was a member of the Bureau of Indian Education, served on the special education advisory board and on the SCAN Administrative Inquiry Team.
Survivors include her daughters Tasheena Talayumptewa, Tanisha Talayumptewa and Tierra Draper; parents Wilson and Lorene Yazzie; brothers Bruce Draper and William Draper Jr.; sisters Loretta Draper and Roberta Draper; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father William M. Draper Sr.; son Leander A. Talayumptewa; daughter Natasha L. Talayumptewa and brother Wilford Draper.
Pallbearers will be Rangel Draper, Marquis Traylor, Ervin Begay, Lance Begay, Issac Draper and Trudell Talayumptewa.
A family gathering will be on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at the Chinle Chapter House. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Chinle Chapter House.
Carmen Sandoval
GALLUP — Services for Carmen Sandoval, 76, will be announced at a later date.
Sandoval died Oct. 3, 2011, in Albuquerque. She was born Nov. 22, 1934, in Willard, N.M.
Kee K. Teller
PRETTY ROCK — Funeral services for Kee K. Teller, 87, will be announced at a later date.
Teller died Oct. 3, 2011. He was born March, 12, 1924, in Fort Defiance.
A family gathering will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Churchrock Chapter House and at 5 p.m. Thursday, at the Tseyatoh Chapter.
Clara C. Washee
CROWNPOINT — Services for Clara C. Washee, 76, will be announced at a later date.
Washee died Oct. 3, 2011, in Crownpoint. She was born July 31, 1935, in Crownpoint into the Water Flows Together People Clan for the Tangle People Clan.
Annie Yazzie
CHINLE — Funeral services for Annie Yazzie, 93, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at Our Lady of Fatima Church. The Rev. Blane Grein will officiate. Burial will be in the family cemetery in Chinle. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at Our Lady of Fatima Church.
Yazzie died Oct. 1, 2011, in Chile. She was born June 27, 1918, in Chinle into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Salt People Clan.
Yazzie was a homemaker. Her hobbies included weaving, beading, and spending time with her friends and relatives.
Survivors include her daughters Alta Claw and Marion Bahe; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Andre Teller, Cody Claw, Randy Roan, William Claw, Todd Middleton and other family members.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Alta Claw’s Residence.
