Filomeno Archuleta

MOUNTAINAIR — Funeral service for Filomeno “Filo” Archuleta, 84, will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, at Mountainair First Assembly of God.

Burial will be in St. Alice Catholic Cemetery, Mountainair. Visitation will be 10 a.m., April 13, at Mountainair First Assembly of God.

Archuleta died Thursday, April 7, 2011.

Archuleta loved his family and will be remembered as a great husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. He enjoyed working on cars and always lived life to the fullest. He also liked attending the yearly family reunion.

Survivors include his children, Robert Archuleta, Leroy Archuleta, Mary Louise Sena, Carl Archuleta, Gloria Montano, Isabel Archuleta, Markie Archuleta, Mary Alice Archuleta, Anthony Archuleta, Amelia Archuleta, Marshall Aragon; brother, Filbert Archuleta; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren.

Archuleta was preceded in death by his wife, Molly Archuleta; children, Alfred Archuleta, Eulalia Chavez; parents, Manuel and Altagracia Archuleta; brothers, Santiago, Markie, Pete, T.J.; sisters, Genoveva, Flora.

Amelia Daniel

GALLUP — Funeral services for Amelia Daniel, 67, will be 10 a.m., April 13, at Spring Valley Fellowship Church, Jones Ranch. The Rev. David DuBoise will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Jones Ranch.
Daniel died April 8, 2011, in Gallup. She was born Dec. 7, 1943, in Red Rock, into the Towering House People Clan for the Over Hanging Rock People Clan.

Daniel attended Intermountain School in Salt Lake City. She was employed at Holiday Inn and after she was a homemaker, a great mom and grandmother. She will be missed.

Survivors include her sons, Walter Lee, Calvin Daniel, Donald Daniel Jr., Christopher Daniel; daughters, Katherine Jim, Kathleen Lee, Doris Daniel; mother, Mary Begay; brothers, Peter Begay, Thomas Begay, Robert Begay, Roger Begay, Walter Begay Jr., James Begay; sisters, Louise Begay, Shirley Edison, Virginia Begay; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Daniel was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Begay Sr.; father, Walter Begay Sr.
Pallbearers will be Walter Lee, Calvin Daniel, Donald Daniel Jr., Harrison Begay Sr., Roy Edison Jr., Nathaniel Edison.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Nose Rock Daniels residence, following services.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Jack Duckett Sr.

GALLUP — Funeral Mass for Jack W. Duckett Sr., 81, were 10 a.m., today, April 12, at St. Francis Church. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery, Richmond, Ind. Visitation was 9 a.m., today, April 12, at St. Francis Church.
Duckett died April 9, 2011, in Gallup. He was born March 2, 1930, in College Corner, Ohio.

Duckett was a professional boxer and a three time Golden Gloves Champion. He served in the US Army from 1954-1958 in the Panama Canal. He moved to Gallup to work for Chief Oil Company. He later worked for Navajo Motors, and then became an owner of the Manhattan Bar and the Village Lounge. He was in the Indian Jewelry business for 25 years. Duckett raced stock cars from 16 years old until the age of 70. He loved watching Nascar, was an avid car collector and loved to fish, travel in his RV and listening to Elvis Presley and Patsy Cline music. Duckett loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Duckett of Gallup; sons, Jack Jr., Tom, Richard, Brian Duckett, all of Gallup, Lewis, Bruce of Mesa; daughters, Donna Stirling of Albuquerque, Debbie Upshaw, Tina Griego, both of Gallup; sister, Betty Shinn of Williamsburg, In.; 28 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Duckett was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Sally Hensley, Tilman and Ida Duckett; parents, Donald and Cuba Duckett; brothers, Lewis Duckett, Billy Duckett, John Duckett.

Pallbearers will be Jack Jr., Lewis, Bruce, Tom, Richard, Brian Duckett.

The family received relatives and friends at Knights of Columbus Hall, Gallup, following services.

Byron Johnson

STANDING ROCK — Funeral services for Byron “Sparky” Johnson, 40, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, at Bible Baptist Shepherd Church, Standing Rock. Burial will be in private family cemetery, Standing Rock. The Rev. Neil Forester will officiate.

Johnson died April 7, 2011, in Gallup. He was born Sept. 11, 1970, in Gallup.

Survivors include his daughter, Bridgett Johnson of Farmington; mother, Christine of Standing Rock; brothers, Myron Johnson of Thoreau, Montoya Johnson Jr. of Standing Rock; sister, Misha Johnson of Crownpoint; grandmother, Bernice M. Etcitty of Standing Rock.

Johnson was preceded in death by his father, Montoya Johnson Sr.; brother, Theron Christopher Johnson; grandparents, Henry Etcitty Sr., Martinez Johnson, Jeanette Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Myron Johnson Jr., Trini Begay, Russel Etcitty, Homer Shorthair, Lance Begay, Andrew Foerster.

Mercedes Garcia

LOS LENTES — Funeral Mass for Mercedes Maria Diaz Garcia, will be 87, will be 11 a.m., Thursday, April 14, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. A Rosary will be recited 7 p.m., April 13, at Rollie Mortuary, Gallup.

Garcia died Saturday, April 9, 2011, in Gallup. She was born Dec. 3, 1923, in Los Lentes.
Garcia grew up in San Rafael and later moved to Atarque and Gallup.

Survivors include her sons, Cecil, Joe, James, John Garcia; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Garcia was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Chavez Garcia; parents, Domingo and Maria Diaz; brothers, Charlie, Manuel, Domingo Jr., Raymond Diaz; sister, Feliz Chavez; three granddaughters.

Pallbearers will be Cecil, J.D., Leon, Fritz, Raymond Garcia, Billy Monday.

Elizabeth Lee

GREASEWOOD — Funeral services for Elizabeth Y. Lee, 90, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Greasewood. Burial will be in Community Cemetery, Greasewood.

Lee died April 8, 2011, in Winslow. She was born Dec. 15, 1920, in Greasewood, into the Coyote Pass People Clan for the Red House People Clan.

Survivors include her son, Alfred B. Lee of Greasewood; daughter, Ruby M. Begay of Greasewood; brothers, Guy V. Yazzie of Greasewood, Johnson K. Yazzie of Kurtland; 11 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.

Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver L. Lee; parents, Joe Yazzie, Bedugah Elthsosigi; brothers, Sam Yazzie, Frances Y. Yazzie, Roman Yazzie, Kee Yazzie, Joe Tsosie; sister, Elizabeth Romero; two grandchildren; one great-grandson.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan L. Begay, Melvin L. Begay, Morgan B. Lee, Ervin L. Begay, Cody G. Begaye, Robert J. Maurer.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Elizabeth Y. Lee’s residence, following services.
