Nicholas Barbone
TOHAJILEE — Funeral services for Nicholas Tom Barbone, 29, will be 10 a.m., May 11, at Benny and Lupita Barbone’s residence, Tohajilee. Bishop Jerry Dubois will officiate. Burial will be in Canoncito Community Cemetery.
Barbone died May 5, 2011, near Sky City. He was born Aug. 11, 1981, in Albuquerque.
Barbone attended school in Tohajilee from kindergarten to 11th grade. His hobbies included hanging out with his mom, paying bills, carrying her purse and calling her “my bro” and “my girl”. He liked to clean, cook, joke and make people laugh. He
Survivors include his parents, Benny Barbone of Borrego Pass, Lupita Jake Barbone of Tohajilee; brothers, Benjamin Barbone, Randy Barbone, Steven Barbone, Ryan Barbone, all of Tohajilee; sisters, Angie Apachito of Alamo, Cindy Barbone of Albuquerque, Helena Jane Barbone of Tohajilee, Shilah Bugg Barbone of Tohajilee; grandparent, Nellie Jake of Tohajilee.
Barbone was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tommy Jake, John aqnd Elsie Barbone; Toby Jake; Sabrina Jake; Leonard Barbone; JoAnne Barbone.
Pallbearers will be Pete Barbone, Kenneth Barbone, Johnny Barbone, Timothy Barbone, Benjamin Barbone, Woody Barbone, Vernon Jake, Michael Toledo, Donovan Jake, Kevin Chavez, Kelly Silver.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Benny and Lupitas residence, Tohajilee, following services.
Ernest Etsitty
FORT DEFIANCE — Funeral Mass for Ernest H. Etsitty, 82, will be 10 a.m., May 11, at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. The Rev. Gilbert Schneider will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Defiance Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m., at the church. A Rosary will be recited 7 p.m., tonight, May 10, at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Defiance.
Etsitty died May 7, 2011, in Fort Defiance. He was born March 16, 1929, in Rehoboth, into the Big Water People Clan for the Water Flows Together People Clan.
Etsitty graduated from Cathedral High School. He enlisted into the US Army when he was 17 and served in Korea. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas Co., Navajo Nation Water
evelopment; NECA and was self-employed as co-owner of Navajo Crafts. Etsitty received the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He served as a medic with the US Army, Recon Patrol, Airborne Raners and Long Range.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie; son, Victor A. Etsitty of Fort Defiance; daughters, Kathleen Bowman of Fort Defiance, Bea Bowman of Phoenix, Ernestine Etsitty of Twin Lakes, Verna Wilson of Stillwater, Okla., Geri Holden of Vancouver, Wash., Sharon Malone of Phoenix; brothers, Leon Etsitty of Gallup, Vern Etsitty of Fort Defiance; sisters, Thelma McCabe of Window Rock, Irma Greenstone of Tucson; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Etsitty was preceded in death by his parents, Tsosie Etsitty, Rose Damon Etsitty; son, Edison Bowman II; two grandsons.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Dominic Catholic Church hall, Fort Defiance, following services.

GALLUP — Services are pending for Alfredo V. (Freddie) Martinz, 63.
Martinez died Friday, May 6, 2011, in Gallup. He was born Dec. 2, 1947, in Monahans, Texas.

Willie Nolan
GRANTS — Memorial service for Willie Mae Nolan, 88, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, May 12, at Central Baptist Church, Grants. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., May 11, at Compassion Mortuary.
Nolan died May 8, 2011, in Grants. She was born July 4, 1922, in Midway, Miss.
Survivors include her 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren.
Nolan was preceded in death by her parents, George and Tishia Whidden; husband, Jack Nolan; son, Bill Hatten; six brothers; six sisters.
Pallbearers will be Jackie Reeves, DeWayne Hatten, Robert Hatten, Michael Hatten, Andrew Hatten, Dennis Ratliff.
Mary JoPecoraro
Services are pending for Mary JoPecoraro, 87.
JoPecoraro died Monday, May 9, 2011, in Gallup. She was born May 1, 1924, in Mentmore.

Angelica Rayl
NEWARK, Calif. — Memorial services for Angelica Marie Schaaf Rayl, 31, will be at a later date.
Rayl died May 5, 2011. She was born Sept. 24, 1979, in Gallup.
Rayl graduated from Gallup High School in 1997, University of New Mexico-Albuquerque to study Political Science and was currently pursuing a law degree from Maryland University. She was an creative and successful entrepreneur and published business woman. Rayl started her own company, Desert Maiden Bathworks, in 2005. After moving to Rio Rancho, she started a second company, Duke City Soap co., in which she sold jewelry and various bath and body products online and at the Idalia Road Marketplace. She was a talented soapmaker and had recently introduced a new product line known as Megami Sekken. In her position as State Director of ‘Bites of Hope’, she was committed to educating the public about healthy living for individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer. She was a talented musician and played the oboe for several years. Rayl recently auditioned for a part in a local production of The Wedding Singer. She loved to cook, craft, garden, travel and spend time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Kevin Rayl; sons, Jacob, Kieran, Noah, Samuel.
Rayl was preceded in death by her grandfather, Maurice Cordova; mother, Monica Cordova.
