Molly Curley

FORT DEFIANCE — Funeral services for Molly Bertha Curley, 73, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 21, at Good Shepherd Mission, Fort Defiance. The Rev. Chad Anaya will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Defiance Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m., May 21, at Good Shepherd Mission, Fort Defiance.

Curley died May 17, 2011, in Fort Defiance. She was born Jan. 22, 1938, in Cuba, into the Meadow People Clan for the Tangle People Clan.

Curley was a Window Rock School district cook and a cook at Joe’s Cafe. Her hobbies included playing cards, bingo and sewing.

Survivors include her sons, Jerry A. Yazzie, Jesse L. Yazzie, Jasper B. Curley; daughters, Nora Jim, Justina B. Curley; sisters, Sarah Sala, Patsy Castillo; 12 grandchildren.

Curley was preceded in death her parents, Ida and Joe Barboan; brother, Willie Barboan.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Sam, Justin B. Curley Jr., Perry Roe, Walton Jim, Jimmy Peterson Jr., Sam Sala.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Fort Defiance Senior Center.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Verdie Mason

SUNDANCE — Funeral services for Verdie J. Mason, 74, will be 10 a.m., May 21, at Rollie Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. Myron Lizer will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m., today, May 20, at Rollie Mortuary.

Mason died May 16, 2011, in Gallup. She was born June 1, 1936, in Keams Canyon, into the Coyote Pass People Clan for the Tobacco People Clan.

Mason was preceded in death by her husband, Dannie L. Mason; parents, Daniel Denet Nelson, Pauline Nelson; sons, Vernon Mason, Dannie Mason Jr.

Pallbearers will be Dannie J. Stevens, Michael Nelson Jr., Loren Nelson, Johnny D. Dixson jr., Darryl Nelson, Brandon James.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Grace Navajo Baptist Church, Gallup, following services.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Albert Perry

SMITH LAKE — Funeral services for Albert Perry, 53, will be 1 p.m., May 21, at Thoreau Church of God, Thoreau. The Rev. Ray Barker will officiate. Burial will be in Smith Lake Family plot, Smith Lake. Visitation will be May 21, at Thoreau Church of God, after service.

Perry died May 15, 2011, in Albuquerque. He was born Aug. 22, 1957, in Smith Lake, into the Two Came To The Water People Clan for the Red House People Clan.

Perry attended trade school for a diesel mechanic, auto mechanic, truck driver. He was mechanic of the year and enjoyed working on vehicles, playing guitar, piano, bass and going camping and fishing.

Survivors include his sons, Franklin Martin of Phoenix, Andrew Perry of Albuquerque; daughters, Carolinda Sandoval of Thoreau, Carolita Martin of Albuquerque, Carolberta Perry of Phoenix; brothers, Martin House, Limbert Perry, Gilbert Perry, Delbert Perry; sisters, Etta Thomas, Mary G. House, Dorris Tsinnie, Marie Perry, Gwendelyn Begay, Doreen Perry, Lorie Perry; eight grandchildren.

Perry was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Perry.

Pallbearers will be Franklin Martin, Andrew Perry, Julian Perry, Jeremy Pinto, Glen Sandoval Jr., Jarvis Pinto.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Thoreau Church of God, Thoreau.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Caroline Perry.

Ivan Peterson

BLACK HAT — Funeral services for Ivan Harris Peterson, 46, will be 10 a.m., May 21, at Word of Life Christian Center, Rock Springs. The Rev. Artie Aragon will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Wildcat Springs.

Peterson died May 7, 2011, in Gallup. He was born April 10, 1965, in Shiprock.

Peterson graduated from Wildcat Christian Academy in 1983. He was a member of Iron Workers, Local 846 and was employed with Gill Con, Inc.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Peterson; sons, Broderick Brad Begay of Red Valley, Emmitt Peterson of Black Hat; daughter, Latifah Peterson; parents, Willis H. Peterson, Verna; brothers, Richard Peterson, Jerome Peterson, Harold Peterson, Craig Peterson, Stanton Chee; sisters, Laverna Peterson, Lulverne M. Tom, Larene Yazzie, Alfrieda Roberts, Virginia Tsosie, Caroline Hawthorne, Nora Denton, Wanda Chee.
Peterson was preceded in death by his brother, David Peterson; grandparents, Paul and Virginia Buck, Jimmie Peterson Sr., Jane W. Begay.
Pallbearers will be Pierre Yazzie, Liam Tom, Ahmeer Yazzie, Esau Yazzie, Palaramie Cordova, Broderick Brad Begay.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Willis Peterson’s residence, Black Hat, following services.
