Marvin Jameson
IYANBITO — Services for Marvinn Jameson, 38, will be at 1 p.m., Friday, July 15, 2011, at Rollie Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Gallup City Cemetery.
Jameson died July 12, 2011, in Albuquerque. He was born Jan. 28, 1973, in Gallup into the Sagebrush Hill People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.
Jameson was a self employed pottery maker.
Survivors include his sons Eric Jameson, Danny Jameson, Murray Jameson; daughter Jowell Jameson; brothers Allison Jamesonm, John Jameson Jr., Daryl Jameson; sisters Lorinda Jameson, Morinda Jameson, Cheryl Jameson, Terri Jameson and grandmother Eunice Joe.
He was preceded in death by his father John W. Jameson, mother Ancie Jameson; grandparents Charlie H. Joe, Willie Jameson, Virginia Jameson; brother Colin N. Yazzie.
Pallbearers will be family members.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Iyanbito Chapter House after services.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Cecil Martin
CHINA SPRINGS, N.M. — Funeral services for Cecil Martin, 55, will be at 10 a.m., Friday, July 15, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. The Rev. Martin Kirk will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery, Gallup.
Martin died July 10, 2011, in China Springs, NM. He was born July 2, 1956, in China Springs, into the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.
Martin graduated from Wingate High School and also graduated with an Associates Degree in Business Management from New Mexico State University. He was a member of the Navajo Nation Band and was self employed.
Martin enjoyed being with his family and cooking.
Survivors include his brothers, Larry Martin of Yahtahey, James Martin of MIlan, Dean Martin of Gallup; sister Nora Mariano of Thoreau, NM.
Martin was preceded in death by parents, Frank Martin and Clara Martin; brothers, Marvin Martin and Anson Martin.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Martin Jr., Gilford Martin, Martin Mariano, Larris Martin, Coy Cody Martin, Christopher Tsosie.
The family will meet at 1 p.m., Friday, July 15 at Rock Springs Chapter House after services.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Pete (Pedro) Ortiz
GALLUP — Funeral services for T. Pete (Pedro) Ortiz, 84, were at 3 p.m., Friday, July 1, at Sunset Memorial Park. Father Larry Bernard, O.F.M. officiated. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Park.
Ortiz died June 28, 2011, in Gallup. He was born Jan. 4, 1927, in Gallup.
Ortiz served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Ortiz was a life member of the VFW. He was the owner of Pedro’s Restaurant and Lounge. He invented the famous Pedro’s Nightmare Steak which many have tried to copy.
Survivors include his sons Paul Greene, Charles Warren, Kevin Ortiz, all of Gallup; daughters, Theresa Ortiz of Surprise, Ariz., Kari Ortiz of Winslow, Ariz.; sister Loraine Richardson of Kingman, Ariz.; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
Ortiz was preceded in death by parents, Pete and Geneva Ortiz; grandparents, Thomas and Eloise Ortiz.
Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Lucille Turnbull
GRANTS — Funeral services for Lucille Grace Turnbull, 68, will be 2 p.m., Saturday, July 16, at New Hope Outreach Church. The Pastor Clyde Clark will officiate.
Turnbull died July 9, 2011, in Grants. She was born on August 6, 1942, in O’Neil, Nebraska.
She was a resident of the Good Samaritan Society of Grants for the past 3 years and was loved by all.
Survivors include her sons; Jack Downward of Grants, James Shult of Bluewater Village, N.M., Floyd Shult of Milan; daughters Connie Shult of Auburn Wash., Pam Milson of Coolidge, Ariz; brother, Pat Dawson of Lincoln, Neb.; 17 grandchildren; 17 great - grandchildren.

Christine Westcott
DURANGO, Colo. — Graveside services for Christine M. Westcott, 54, will be Friday, July 15, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Greenmount Cemetery in Durango. A Rosary and viewing will be held today, July 14, at 7 p.m. at Hood Mortuary.
Westcott died July 11, 2011, in Durango.
She was born on Sept. 12, 1956, in Gallup.
Following graduation from high school, she joined the U.S. Army where she studied nursing through the Walter Reed Institute of Nursing, graduating in the last class in 1978. She met her husband Ken Westcott at Gallup Indian Medical Center, where they both served as nursing supervisors for the United States Public Health Service.
Upon retirement from the military, Mr. and Mrs. Westcott returned to New Mexico for a time, ultimately settling in Colorado on the Florida Mesa south of Durango in 1991. As a couple they enjoyed travel adventures in their motorhome, gardening and time with family, friends and their pets. She was an avid reader and intellectual who drafted a military suspense novel in 2003, Mrs. Westcott was a founder of the local writer’s group “Durango Inkslingers” in the mid-1990s. She is perhaps best known for the weekly humor column she wrote for the Durango Herald and the publication Cross Currents. She found satisfaction in the visual arts creating pastels and watercolor paintings.
Mrs. Westcott is survived by her husband Ken Westcott; son Jason Raysinger of Durango, Colo., and her parents John and Rosemary Mahalovich of Gallup.
